My Wintec GP needs reflocking.

I have booked a saddler to come out to it next week. Does anyone know, on average, how much it costs to re-flock/re-fit a saddle?

Ta muchly.

A proper full re-flock involves:

* assessing how the saddle sits on the horse, including when ridden;
* taking the saddle apart;
* removing all the old flocking (or whatever has been used to stuff it before - you'd be surprised);
* putting in the new flocking (and this is much easier said than done), and adjusting to the requirements of horse and rider;
* putting saddle back together again;
* putting saddle back on horse to check all OK, including when ridden, and adjusting if necessary.

This can be several hours work. How much per hour would you expect to pay a professional for a good job? I can do my own, but if not I would expect to pay at least £50. £60 to £80 is certainly not too high for a fully trained saddler.

my thorowgood was £45 for a reflock. saddler did quite a lot of work on it as horse has asymmetric muscling so it was flocked accordingly. I thought i got a bargain! one saddler i've used in the past charged £75 and wouldn't flock on your premises!!

The £80 this person paid was just for the reflock not fitting it after:eek:

Nothing surprises me re what saddles are flocked with SL, i took one apart in SA and it had cut up knicker elastic stuff, levi jeans and other clothing material,(aslo the tree was broken in two places) another had 3 different types of flocking.(this one the head plate was broken) took an indian one apart and that had used Matches and packaging from some drug or other...
Here is a pic of the SA one.
