Has anyone sold saddles online recently? My friend has warned me against it and said buyers will make any excuse to return the saddle if it doesn't fit, even if you've stated no returns and described accurately. Would be interested to hear anyone's good/bad experiences with this. Thanks x

I sold my last ones through preloved and Facebook, pick up only, cash then and no return and didn't have any issue. I've not ebayed anything in a long time as it always seems such a faf and so many rules to understand.

I've sold 2 online (all be it in France) one went by post the other collected. Sold both on the terms that they could be "tried and tested for 7 days with return and full refund given if returned within this time in the same condition as sold". Neither were returned and both customers were happy bunnies.

I had a Bates saddle I wanted shut of but heard soooo many bad selling stories I decided against it. It now resides in my tack room along with others.....
One concern of mine was how to send? Royal Mail would be expensive and also ensuring adequate packaging. And then, wondering if it was going to get there in one piece. I think it would be okay if someone were to collect in person tho.

Ebay can be a nightmare. I sold a shirt. Took loads of photos etc and made an accurate description. I got awful rude feedback from a woman because "it was too small on her":rolleyes:
And that was not a huge amount of money! Can imagine what it could be like selling something worth quite a bit!

I've googled selling a saddle on eBay and one seller was forced by eBay to take a return, only for it to be a really old saddle that was not the saddle she had sold! She had to refund and eBay said that there was nothing they could do as the buyer had returned A saddle. Its sad to think people are that dishonest. x

I've been really lucky with the saddles that I have sold. Some have been posted or couriered but all the recipients have been pleased.

I've sold four saddles now, not had them returned nor any issues. Took many pictures including them wrapped for sale as well as the advisement that they wouldn't be refunded no matter what as sold as seen in the pictures.

I've known of one person who had an issue selling a saddle. As soon as the buyer started mucking them about ( after a month of using said saddle) they just shut everything down and didn't refund anything.

I sold online through preloved. I got the money transferred before I sent it. I took loads of pictures, made sure it was polished well and the buyer loved it. Charged £20 postage that the buyer paid.

I am very fortunate that I have had quite a few saddles donated for the charity fundraising and so far have never had an issue selling through my Facebook charity page. Like Orbvalley I always sell them with the 7 day trial - to be returned in the same condition at buyers expense if not suitable. And I do keep dozens of photos of every conceivable part of the saddle until it is well outside the 7 days just to cover myself . Paypal only payment as I do feel that protects me and the buyer too.

Ebay!!! Never ever would I even attempt to sell anything of any real value on there I am afraid - it is too heavily weighted in favour of unscrupulous buyers now to give sellers any real hope of avoiding the cowboys.

I sold one on EBay, some years back, without any issues but the Buyer had also sold many items and had a high rating.

Another saddle that was on Horseclicks didn't get sold because the potential buyer kept e-mailing me for
picture after picture, ad nauseum. I took more pictures than the saddle was big.

i sold another saddle to a friend because my horse that used it has passed and it fit her horse.

The rest are sitting, well covered in my attic, for my brother to deal with when I'm no longer around, because I no longer have any patience to deal with nut cases, people who can't make up their minds, people who want a lifetime warranty from me, and onandonandon:confused::confused:

Where are you thinking?
With ebay the buyer can now return if they change their mind!! Or it doesn't fit. I would personally choose cash on collection. But I have posted.
I have to say since they brought in these changes I have had many good sales and maybe one or two iffy.
You find those people anyway.
I did sell a saddle two years ago successfully.

I used My Hermes and packed in a big box stuffed with newspaper, it worked out fine. Not too expensive - I sold mine on eBay and added the cost on anyway.

I was considering eBay, thing is one of the saddles is a lemetex and I love it, the other is a ideal and although it's a nice saddle I'm not sentimentally attached to it. The thought of having hassle selling puts me off though may put the ideal on preloved and see if it sells there. x

I sold my RI's saddle via Preloved. It sold at the advertised price and was trouble free. I used Paisley Freight to send it. They specialise in awkward stuff and were good. They charge £15.99 incl VAT for a saddle. The buyer was happy so it worked out. I'm not sure I'd use Ebay now since all the rule changes.

There is no such thing now as no returns.
You can offer a refund or you have to take back.
If you don't the seller will simply open mis described case. Had that happen even though it wasn't. 12 photos, description.
I only sell inexpensive things this way now.
