Shay lane stables - Halifax

heard of them, i think my friend rode there a couple of times, havnt seen her for years though. il ask around.
and wow someone who lives in brighouse too!:D

well i learned to ride at netherhall riding school, but to be honest they arent that great in "correctness" if you know what i mean.

however i went to lowfold stables a couple of times which i thought was exellent, facilities and horses wise. people seem lovely too, thats up lepton way, you would have to get the number from yellow pages.:)

lowfold in hudds are decent , they take students for hudds college for nvq practical side & some of the instructors for that are excellent , bhsi & ii's , but not sure who the instructors are for 'normal' lessons

coley equestrian centre is supposed to be ok too , but no personal experience

what level of rider are you & what do you want to achieve , ie many are ok for hacks out , low level lessons , but not what i would personally go for if you are a good novice plus

i'm a beginner, i have had 3 lessons before 2 private and one group. i want to learn how to ride and hopefully in the near future learn how to jump, but i do kind of feel that i might be taking it up a little too late at 18! i'm going to ring low fold late this aft for a chat.

does anyone know what the equestian centre is called on the way to shelf from brghouse, its on the left hand side as going up its near the the garden centre?

thanks

Hi
I went to Shay Lane years ago. It used to be a decent riding school but I dont know what its like now. Low Fold is ok. Also Bankhouse Farm in Middlestown. My partners daughter goes there and loves it. Its in the phone book. There used to be a stables near Brighouse in Clifton but I dont know if it still exists.

Know this is quite an old thread, but I have been to all riding schools round here, taught at most of them as well, theres church view, but it's had a major overhaul, Dave's not there any more :(, coley E.C is now Laura Brennan E.C, She's an A.I so high level of tuition, no one mentioned Fly Laithe, great for hacking. Your prob well on your way wi your riding now, hope your enjoyin it.:)

hi welsh by name.

I've been to both church view and laura bennan, tbh i didnt think much of both tutions so i gave up trying to find a riding school near me and go to one in doncaster now. but if you know of anyone that you could highly recomend i would be intrsted thanks

i tried low fold when i first started riding, they said they didnt have room to take anyone on

But i am happy where i am now so i dont mind the drive, rather get my moneys worth tbh than pay an hour private just to walk around and not even tack up or untack!

ahhhhhhh:eek:, hope it wasn'tme that taught you. I'm not working at either now tho so you might be safe to go back. ha ha ha.Which horses did you ride at c.v and LBEC? just bein nosey now!

To be honest all riding schools round here seem to struggle as there are too many in the same area, but none offer anything different than the others. Think you need to keep changing round so you dont get bored but then you get loads of instructors telling you conflicting things.

Did you try salter royd at wilsden, they have some nice challenging horses and do wicked fast hacks, with no road work, for a nice change. Hant been for a while tho, so dont know what their instructors are like.
