if i wanted to show my 14.2hh traditional cob would the best bridle to use be one with a thick noseband? im only using a snaffle bridle as he is still young. :) thanks

Yes, a hunter syle or flat cavesson style bridle is much more flattering for cobbier/heavier types.

I've just recieved a lush thick nosebanded leather bridle for showing - similar to the below pic but its thicker.

This is an example and below is my cob in a 1 inch noseband.

Flat, wide nosebands look better on the cobs, gives them a more 'hunter' look. The thinner raised nosebands look better on the arab/ TB types because their heads are slightly smaller and refined.

yep, flat broad 'hunter' bridle is correct and looks best.

Pink in her hunter bridle. The diamante browband is naughty but the only one I had that fitted at the time.

THIS is a really nice bridle - lovely leather and looks good. They've in brown and black in cob or full.
Demostared on Brodie. Pink's now wearing the 'correct' plain browband. I seem to have more bridles that browbands:rolleyes:

Pink does everything - Ridden cob (she's not hogged so can't do show cob) and Riding Club Horse normally (as well as jumping, Pony Club Pony with Ali, family horse, handy pony etc) Now she's had her feathers off she could also do small Ridden Hunter/Working hunter - when she's fit she's very lean and 'sports cob'
