Sitting a Buck

I'm not sure to be honest, I think I must just sit deep, keep my leg on and not tense up whilst trying to bring her under control! My girl tends to just do the type of bucking that includes a few back, forth and sideways 'dance moves' too when she's excited but she's not too sharp with it and all but once I've sensed she was about to do it so maybe I've just been lucky to stay on so far - oh except that one time I didn't but I was landing after a jump and was still in a forward seat when the force came from behind - you live and learn!! :p

It is my big weakness, rears and spooks don't faze me but bucks (unless of the playful variety) inevitably unseat me.

Fist 'buck' I gave into was a ticklish mare who would just let fly, head between knees with no warning, my own horse for 20 years had a system where he worked me slightly forward and off balance and then dropped a shoulder. I suspect I just learnt it hurt less to give way early on!!

For baby/play bucks I do jam my feet forward and sit up.

It would be great is someone could add on bucks/rears/spooks to mechanical horse though.

thinking about it, i have ridden some "fab" bucks- huge dancey prancey wriggling around in the sky ones, leap into the air then let rip with feet ones

i tend to laugh through them, they make my tummy feel funny :p

the most recent one (that got me off) my mum said there was no way anyone would have stayed on..

I always LOOK UP! i'm sure the times i've gone splat is when i've looked down. i do the same lean back, plant my lower leg & feet forward, pull the head up & ride on. Also if you know they are going to do it - turn the head one way towards you to disengage behind. Some bucks really do just come out of the blue & get you though don't they! :D
