Nearly 2 weeks ago I rushed Abigail to the vets as she went drastically downhill in a couple of hours. She was getting ready to lay eggs and I thought she was egg bound and she was. She was treated and came back home that night as she actually started laying eggs while on my front.
She lay around 70 over the next 36 hours and was back to her normal self for a few days, eating, wanting out, drinking and generally looking great. Then she went downhill again,I came home from work to find her hardly able to open her eye or hold her branches. Back to emergency vets, she stayed in over night had xrays and more treatment, she still had a few eggs that were too big to pass. I did not wish to put her through surgery as she was so weak and its not great for chams when they are healthy. I made the heart breaking decision to put her to sleep. I really do miss her,she was very unique in how friendly and sociable she was, they are often look at only pets but Abigail always liked been out on on you. Her favourite spot in the garden was our small pear tree, she caught many a fly out there and enjoyed eating the leaves. She is buried there with her large piece of wood that was a favourite basking spot for her. RIP my sweet sweet girl,I love you and miss you but I know your peaceful and have good company up there in the clouds xxx

Thank you Julie.
It seems to be pretty common in chams, they can give them a hysterectomy basically but it's not always successful and chams don't really do well with anaesthetic. A lot of specialist breeders it would seem don't recommend females as pets due to this. She was 2, I had owned her most of her life. This was her 2nd batch of eggs, first went very smooth but sadly not this time. She may have been small and could be a real grumpy bugger but she really has left a huge hole in my heart.

Very sorry for your loss, she looks like a lovely character

Oh I am so sorry, I wondered how she had got on. Rest in peace lovely girl. I know you will miss her very much. Sending you my best sympathy and kind thought vibes. Txxxx

Oh no MM I'm so very sorry. I know how much you loved her and know that she couldn't have wished for a better home, massive hugs and sympathy x RIP lovely little Abigail.

Thank you so much for your kinds words,I feel very lost, her tank breaks my heart as she isn't there but I don't want to move it from my bedroom,I automatically go to turn her lights on when I get up. This is one of my favourite pictures of her sleeping on her leaves , I always had to make sure it was supported enough underneath as it was a favourite sleeping spot of hers :) xx
