Soft heels

I have noticed with all this snow that the heels on both my horses are really soft and on one it looks a little bruised.

What can I do to help my horses, any recommendations.

Oh and they live out 24/7

Is the horse sore on it? Often the extreme cold of standing in snow can lead them to look bruised, but it is just the affect of the capilliries (sp?) contracting to retain heat.
If they're not sore, I would leave them alone. If they are, to be honest I'm not sure what you can do as any boots etc would cause more harm than good and there isn't a topical application to keep heat in! (If there is, where can I buy it lol). Just make sure you pick their feet out regularly, and wait for the snow to melt (then we'll all be whinging about mud!)
