I noticed some strange marks on C's stomach/flank today - both left and right side.

You could only really see them on his black bits although out in the daylight there were some further up his stomach too:confused:

He was acting fine and had been in overnight and all day today (for farrier)

You can spot them on the black bit of his flank - anyone any ideas? It was a little bit like the veins that pop up when he's been exercised but they didn't look like veins:confused:

He had finished the 3 hay nets I'd made him and Y/O hadn't put another one in so he was nibbling at his straw so I started to worry about colic but there were no other signs at all and he was bright and alert and happy.

It's probably nothing but I just found it odd

Any advice welcome!

I cant see in them pictures, bu dougie came in with some strange lumps and lines on his tummy yesterday, he was fine so im leaving them and see if they get any better.

I know what they look like. I've noticed them on two coloureds I use to have, they use to come up on their black bits after a bath and would be still be there once we got to where we were going (usually a show).
I use to wonder if they were from lying on the straw without any grease from the coat for protection, it was the only thing I could think of :o:o

I don't even see any veins. :D

The only thing I can think of, has a tendancy to itch or anything, as if he's been rubbing then the hair will be ruffled and skin will be inflamed. It could be that or his hay/bed has been tickling him, and he has lines. That happens to Red sometimes.

Can't really see them clearly but think they might be from his bed? Mine gets little criss-cross patterns off his straw and even if he's been lying on grass :)

Thanks - this was my thought too at first but I didn't know if that was possible as I've never seen these marks before.

I'm pretty sure they weren't veins - there were an awful lot of them and it's not too clear in the picture.

Just found it odd as I'd never spotted it before!

My horse has these at the moment - he's on box rest.
Not sure what they are but I dont think they're anything sinister.
Certainly not veins unless he has an awful lot more than other horses :p

He does have a straw bed (that he eats).
