Suppling exercises article

Interesting! I didn't realised that spine problems were so common. I think I'd be inclined to do them in-hand first. They look as if they need some quite advanced riding.

Very interesting, although it is a bit technical for me. I'm not sure I understand the leg yield triangle stretch. How do I make this different from an ordinary leg yield? And why is a turn on the haunches 'threading the needle'? I think I'm missing something, which is a shame because I really would like to try these.

I dont think you are missing anything Bodshi, the only difference i understood was the degree of stretch in the movement, the triange one is a leg yeild with extension along the body rather than collection until the muscles get stronger. I think the different names are just to link it to the yoga poses and also to show there is some difference from the normal movement.
These are pretty similar to what I did with jess on Monday but I was working her into a low contact, she finds the turn on the forehand hardest.

Well that's a relief! I still don't know how to do them though. I know how to ask for a leg yield, but I've been taught to keep Raf's head and neck straight ahead, so not sure how to now ask him to lower and bend.

However, tonight I did try - on the ground - the small circle one, which turned into a kind of turn on the forehand, but I asked Raf to lower his head and bend towards me, which he managed to do, so I'm hopeful we might be able to achieve some of the exercises one way or another.
