a land full of ponies
how do you clean tack- i wipe over to get rid of dirt sweat etc, rub in some 1 step tack cleaner (absorbine or mark todd) buff, then if time put some spray conditioner on and buff.
if time is short i wipeover and spray conditioner on. i try to wash bit on proper tack clean to.
any other peeps have different ways??

take it to bits, warm damp cloth wipe over, wipe with sponge and saddle soap, warm damp cloth wipe again, buff dry, fat based gloop if needed.

i love cleaning tack :D

strip it all down (write down buckle numbers, cos i always forget) then get hot water with a tiny squirt of washing up liquid in. soak dishcloth wring it out then use glycerine saddle soap. if it doesnt get all grease out i run a flat blade knife down the 'rough' side to scrape it off then wash it again.
saddle soap everything so it gets chance to dry, then start on either neatsfoot oil or hydrophane leather dressing (depends on what it is)

stirrups and bits get washed in the sink and scrubbed with a "green scrubber" then rinsed with boiling water.
