I recently started looking for tall black riding boots to use for Hunt Seat competitions in the IHSA, but I'm having difficulty finding any that fit. I'm 5'5'' but have an athletic build so my calves are on the wider side (don't know exact measurements). I've tried a Tuff Rider 10 Wide, which if I remember correctly zipped about a third of the way up my leg and a Saxon 11 X-Wide, which just barely zipped but was also way too big in the foot. Based on the Saxon size chart, my calf width is probably around 17 in, which is really difficult to find in a 10. Anyway, I'm open to any recommendations you guys have, though I'd rather not spend more than $200 on my boots, especially since I'm just starting out.
If I can't find tall boots in that price range, are half chaps allowed at the collegiate level Hunt Seat in the IHSA and what would be the best place to find those?
