Nope...not the dodgy TV show, but the field of 6 that my sister and I have. 2 for me, 3 for her and 1 for my neice.

I just wanted somewhere to put the bits and pieces we are doing as a diary to myself, especially with the newbie Dippy, the brainless 3 year old. I suspect this thread will have a lot of pics as time goes on.

So to today, 2nd time with farrier for D, a little bit of sedative as his back feet can still be a bit quick about 50% of the time and he needs to be trimmed properly and it keeps everyone safe. He was much better today than last time (which was vet sedation!) so progress is being made.

Washed his tail as well, you can now really see how multicoloured it is! I love it as its so different.

I did snap what are think are some really cute pics in the field when my neice and I were out pulling rag.

And I had a lesson on my sisters big horse yeaterday as Ive been riding him a bit as she is always short on time. He tried really hard for me and I was very happy with him.

The coloured beast is just happy hacking atm as he slipped a little while ago and didnt feel right so have been taking it very easy. Added trotting back in the last week and he is sound so thats good.

Lovely day playing with ponies and the riding is in the hacking thread.

Did snap a picture of Dippy looking like he has a HUGE head, but really pleased with how he is growing up. Holding a lovely weight now and i was so worried about him when he arrived and lost loads.

Also managed to get the kids pony to load. He can be a bit difficult when he is unsure of things as he was a rescue and the one thing you can not do it put pressure to go forward on the front. Thinking outside the box i long lined him in and he then had his dinner. Loaded 3 times and the last time went straight in. Good pony.

Gotta love horses...

One vets bill, an hour later and some antihistamines and all is well. Over reaction to a fly bite of some sort! Never seen a reaction like that. Balloned inside 5 mins, vet there inside 40 mins.

Clever pony! Fully saddled up and girth on and done up for the first time. He didnt care at ALL so parked and the block for him to get an idea about people above him. Didnt care about that either.

Good horse!

Lovely mane! Keep it double!
Someone else said leave the bottom half as when you get on him you will need it to hold onto so just to say its nice is better. :)

One day I hope to canter him down the centre line all plaited up though so it cant stay like it is forever (hopefully!).

Can you not plait it as is? I ask in ignorance, I have never plaited a horse's mane in my life!

Also I think it is odd that dressage horses have to be plaited up rather than looking naturally beautiful ;)

You techincally dont have to plait for dressage, but its an old tradition and is meant to show respect foe the judge. Plaiting a mane that thick and wild just ends up huge golf balls!

A warm but good ride this evening on the huge black horse. We are starting to really be on the same page and its a nice feeling.

So hot down south! Pottered bareback yesterday, couldnt face getting on today after work at all. Sad times as not going to see my boys for 2 weeks now whilst I am off to Bulgaria, but my 2 brown boys were happy today. :)

Missing my boys now and no where to get a horsey fix here. Is it just me who misses the smell of them as well as everything else. Just something about it.

However, early mornings on the beach here are just amazing.

Still getting updates on the boys from home. Both are now feeling rather unloved and hang at the gate whenever anyone turns up. Be back to see them on thursday!IMG-20240813-WA0010.jpgIMG-20240813-WA0011.jpg
