The Health Blog 2014

First spanner in the works for this week, my sister has announced we're off to the Chinese tonight for my nephew's birthday! Whilst yummy, not great for being able to count calories!
Glad I went for a nice, long walk this morning and have had sensible options for breakfast and dinner!

That sounds sensible - having a walk. Maybe tomorrow you could squeeze one in too? I over indulged last night on olives and nuts so am thinking I ought to do extra poo picking today. Have already had a walk up the hill on the strength of burning any extra calories.

do you think its the time of year? because i cant seem to stop eating at the moment. I am out of control :oops:. Its a good job i have been to the gym twice this week and will be going for a run this evening because i would be proper piling on the pounds (or maybe i am still ??) .
I also feel a little run down - i am sleeping like a baby at the moment and am waking up feeling crappy - esp today when i feel pre -coldy... :(

I have been really down this week and for the first time in my life I hadn't felt like eating. Therefore my 'tight' work trousers now fit me perfectly and I feel like I have lost some weight. Not ideal circumstances I know, but I feel much better today so will enjoy the trousers fitting and not feeling like I am bursting out of them.

Despite an increase in physical activity my black jacket (its like the bloody holy grail trying to get it to fit me again!) is still tight across my chest. OH says cheekily that there's not a lot I can do about boobage size but I know it isn't just that - I think it's just extra weight in general. Humph.

It's that time of year when the bugs are coming out, my Sister has fallen prey to flu so I'm trying to avoid her in the nicest possible way! Makes me just want comfort food when it gets colder and I feel under the weather. Need to make soups and stews to stock up my freezer to try and curb the binge eating!

Went for a longer walk this morning, my legs are feeling it! I think I have earned the cookie I am currently devouring with my coffee!

I am paying for a flu jab on Monday. Have booked in at Asda - bit of a trial for me but worth it. Worth every penny too!

This is true - we have had a few people off work recently with tummy bugs and people with colds... It is the one time i am glad to be sat away from all the snotty grotties.

I had my flu jab last week, it really hurt this year! Had quite a big reaction to it, my arm swelled up and was hot for ages :(
I'm feeling a little snotty so I'm wondering if it's because of my jab, my Sister had hers last week too. But I didn't think the jabs were a live vaccine anymore.

I don't normally feel bad after mine, sorry to hear you are a bit sore. The only reaction I have had to a jab was about ten years ago when I had my tetanus done, bloomin arm nearly fell off two days later!lol I wimpered all weekend!!!!M

It doesn't usually hurt this much, but my arm really swelled up and was bright red and hot. It looked like a horsefly bite

Eeek! Hope its back to normal soon. I'm looking forward to getting mine done, I caught flu about twelve years ago and have never forgotten it. I felt depressed for weeks afterwards and although I lost a stone, I wouldn't want it ever again!

oooh trews --i had the flu also when i was in my early twenties. It floored me and i was bedridden for around a week and very ill for around fortnight (literally) . I couldnt cope with light or noise. I got a water infection at the same time. It was horrendous. I lost a lot of weight because i hardly ate anything. I genuinely hope to never get flu again.

Isn't it awful? I felt like I lost a week of my life in bed, it was so bad I couldn't lift a glass of water for three days, the pain was awful - that's one of the differences between flu and a heavy cold, I had very few cold symptoms, just pain and temperature, and sore throat. Yuk. It was bonfire night too as I remember hearing all the fireworks - we lived on a housing estate then.

i just remember shivering constantly -and being very sensitive to everything. I was also very weak and going to the toilet was a hassle - the water infection made it much worse as well. It felt like i was peeing knives.

Right it's the 1st October and the start of a proper healthy regime. I have got OH on board and told him that's it when it comes to takeaways and eating out. For a solid month we are going to be healthy and see where it takes us. This includes no smoking (2 days stopped so far and feeling great), healthy meals and increasing exercise. Also having a frugal month to save for Christmas, which also means no food shopping unless absolutely desperate and trying to create meals with stuff we have in the house!

Good luck ! I am yo yo'ing between trying slimming world again or doing the fast days again. I had a lot of success with that earlier in the year.

I keep wondering about Slimming World but I'd want to just do it online and it's quite expensive. The plan I did last year works well and is apparently similar to Slimming World. I just need to kick myself up the bum and get back on it!

ooh same here. I have been on the slimming world site numerous times in the last 10 days or so but there is something making me not go through with the subscription (the expense - £60 a lot) but also because i am doubtful about my will power.
