On an island
Ok - you knew a Trewsers neighbour rant was due!!!:o A while back I put in listed buildings consent application - for a cctv camera (encouraged by the local police). Well, got my letter from the council yesterday (they always come Friday when you can't ring them after work:rolleyes:) and basically it says they are treating it like any other planning application:confused: and they've sent letters to all the neighbours that might be affected. Well, Rumplestiltskin (bad one) does not speak to us after being warned by the solicitors (he's extremely abusive and bad mouthed). Other neighbour had a word with me today about it - I think they feel a bit dubious as to whether they should object.
This does rather annoy me, as they have done two things to their property (also listed building) which I have never said a word about, and of course, they did not obtain the correct planning permission.
So, looks like Trewsers is in the bad books again with the neighbours. Am putting together a letter for the council as I know Rumple will ring them immediately on Monday to put his two penneth worth in.
Oh, and I found out he'd been on my land again:mad::mad: I thought I was being paranoid but somebody has confirmed it for me:mad:.
Sorry, just needed to vent.:o

Oh Trewsers just when I thought things were going ok this happens. What a nightmare!!!

I have no words of wisdom, although the nicer neighbour may just think twice and not make any comments at all, however unfortunately Mr Grumpy Pants horrid horrid neighbour will complain as you probably already know. Have you explained on your planning application that on advice of the police they are the ones who have suggested the CCTV, perhaps you could get them to give you some sort of report to back up the application?

I'm not being much help here but I really do feel for you, it's exactly what you and Mr Trewsers do not need right now. Try to keep your chin up though!

Thanks dragzb, I have promised myself not to let either of us get too stressed about it - its just not worth it!
I have drafted an email to the person who is dealing with the application and pointed out that the police did in fact suggest the camera, so hopefully that will go a long way towards getting it passed.
Just rather annoyed at the other neighbour as he does not always do things "properly" but seems to get away with it!!!!!
I thought I was being paranoid a couple of weeks ago about the nasty neighbour going onto our land and property - but, turns out it is true, because the other neighbour more or less let slip that he'd seen him! And, I did see something odd in our garden (ladder marks would you believe where he clambered up to gain access to a joint drain-pipe!!!)

Am guessing nasty neighbour will not want the camera as it will put paid to his activities - such as going in my garden and putting ladders up to see if his gutter is blocked on my side (he should darn well ask first!!!!!)

Oh poor you, another tussle!

Certainly stress to the planning authority that you have had people (no need to specify who) coming on to your property and causing damage, and that the police have recommended cctv both as deterrent and potential evidence. Have you tried contacting your local councillor to supprt your application? I'm donkey's years out of date with planning matters, but I think this may be one of the matters that can be decided at officer or committee chairman level, unless it's likely to be be controversial. However, I suppose Mr Nasty will try to make it so:mad:

Does your other neighbour realise why you want the cctv? He may think it would bring his indiscretions to light! Perhaps a little chat would reassure him that your not randomly turning into Big Brother.

Bloody neighbours

My neighbour called me over earlier today and said that she had so much ragwort in her paddock and that it must have come from us!! Funny that as last year we sprayed everything and I did not see any ragwort. Then she said she is planting some llandi trees next to my menage as she wants some privacy and doesnt like looking at the weeds down the back bank of the menage.

What a cow!

Funny thing is she doesnt do any paddock maintenance whatsoever and has 4 horses on less than an acre

Also she has an unsightly rubbish heap that backs onto my garden and has asbestos down the bottom of her garden.

It just makes you made doesnt it. Bloody nosy good for nothing bored neighbours.

I bit my lip and kept my cool as I don't really have an inbetween. I am nice or really nasty!!!!

Her husband is fine and really friendly but she is, as my OH calls her "the walking dead"!!

She then said that my horse was working nicely in the school today and was good with his neck. Nosey cow was watching me. Spying through all those weeds no doubt.

Of course he was working nicely he's a sports horse and properly schooled unlike her 4 poor horses that just live in a matchbox with no grass all year.

Rant over :D

planning permission for CCTV? when we put ours up we never needed any hun. Wasn't attached to a building though, we place it internally to look out of a window so we could ensure no one damaged the cameras outside (i have some at the yard and its amazing how many times one external one its made to point downwards........)

Police advised us we were within our rights to have CCTV up if there is a sign stating that to public and it only covered our land.

Nieghbours can be a complete pain in the butt! We are still waiting for ours to be sentenced after the 5 pleads of guilty....... its been put back 2 months again!!! and........ hes still doing stuff!! Law is a farce

Do you have to attach it to the building, as someone has already suggested, why not put it in your windows, or an outbuilding, pole in the ground or something.

A friend of mine has been going through something similar, its made her ill and cost an absolute fortune in solicitors bills.

One thing she did find out when checking her deeds is that the neighbour did have access rights to her property. Something to do with gutters and drainage, it had been put on when they were first built as the local estate built and owned all the houses 200 years ago.

But that's just it, RTK right of access to maintain your gutters and drain pipes, anything unreasonable beyond that is taking the pee.

Years ago, when they built a house on the field behind my parents house, the back of their house was part of the boundary, so it had to go in the deeds of the new house that my parents had right of access to maintain the roof, gutters and back wall of their house....there permission ends.

Claire, at least your neighbour didn't use your land as her midden! Thorowing all her rubbish ,grass clippings old sheds etc over the wall. When we threw it back on more than on occasion she told us that "weeds" from our mowing grass were blowing into her garden. Would you like to borrow my OH....he can be very scary :D :D Put him on a lead and get him to meet your neightbours! ;) ;)

Dig some giant holes round the edge of your land and somehow cover them in grass....Not very realistic, I know, but maybe the thought of your neighbour trapped in a big hole, waitng to be discovered after trespassing might put a smile on your face. :)

Hehehehee, was hoping to catch him on camera lol - OH and I were saying how entertaining it would be to see him at work:p:mad:

Thing is, I've gone to all the trouble of putting in the forms now (had to do three copies) and it took me ages, plus it would be better on the exterior, rather than actually in our bedroom - but if the worst comes to the worst, then I'll have to have a re-think and place it inside, surely they can't stop me doing that?!

Can't believe in this day and age just because its a listed building (what about tv ariels and sky dishes????!) we have to go through all this rigmarole. Its not like its huge or anything!!! Its very discreet. Neighbour really won't want it, as he sneaks over the wall and into my front garden often, so he can check the guttering - it would be nice to be asked wouldn't it???! AFter all he's put us through, I wouldn't let him have permission unless he asked properly in writing (he is so abusive and rude we don't speak anymore).

Claire1605 - thats awful with your neighbour! Just goes to show, I kept saying to OH if my neighbour as horsey then we'd have no trouble !!!! lol, I think you can just get awkward people can't you? Fancy her spying on you when you were schooling like that!!!!

Sorry, just an added RANT!
Other neighbour (who we speak to and who isn't too bad) has started dropping massive hints about not liking the lookk of our THISTLES!!!!! Blimey, why live in the countryside?! If he wants to live on a housing estate then go move to one! He complains constantly about sheep poo, horse poo, cow poo, weeds, mud, rabbits, moles, you name it - everything rural!!!!! Am certainly NOT getting rid of my thistles, as Storm likes to munch them!!!!!!!!
Oh, and he also told us how we ought to be fencing one of our fields!!! Bloomin cheek, he seems to think that (he's scared of cows) I should put a gate up so they can't get into a bottle neck at the top of his driveway. Considering I own the land right up to his driveway (which I let him park on as a courtesy) I think its a bit cheeky! He's also dug a ditch into my land without asking (but I let that one go) because he claimed his house was flooding!!!!! (More like his dodgy builders didn't level his patio properly!!!!!!).
Right, finished............................

Trewsers maybe you should inform your 'delightful' neighbour that not only are you a well loved member of a particular forum, but the people with whom you chat to in cyberspace are so very annoyed as his inappropriate antics that they will - (and we WILL!) - be round to pay him a visit if he doesn't stop such schoolboy antics :D

And really, one should not wish to put themselves in such a situation as one really does not know quite what will happen to oneself and ones ladder.

Imagine ones ladder being stuck where ones sun doesn't shine.... :p

Hahahaha, I told OH if I ever catch him up the ladder propped against my bedroom window I'll shove him off it!!!!!!!
Honestly, he's like a ruddy garden gnome brought to life (really, he's tiny and looks just like an evil one!). He is so rude tho, you wouldn't want to speak to him after a while, he is so rude it left me speechless once! I nearly asked him if he kissed his mother with that mouth......(I remember Buffy once asked a baddy that !!!!hahahahha, I used to watch too much tv!)
