as soon as we see the little things on our dogs we remoe them with the tick picker things. But with our big doggy we hardly find them until they have dropped off and are rolling around on the floor with a belly bloated with blood

Anti biotics are over used, only use them if the horse needs them. If there is a nasty infection which the body cannot deal with, okay, go for them but wait and see. Horses are tough cookies.

I try not to go for antibiotics unless things are looking quite serious. Antibiotics kill bacteria, (could of guessed that from the name ) and they aren't fussy about what type. Since horses use bacteria in their gut to digest food, it can sometimes cause problems if your horse is a poor doer until the gut flora has redeveloped.

yeah, but what about Lyme's disease, I am not too far away from the New Forest, and there are loads of deer around?
