Too tall?

Skib, Orbvalley, selside - thank you for replying. Exactly, im not overweight I ride very quietly, my balance is fantastic - I rode racehorses when I was a teenager and Im really confident in my ability, although I was 9st then so it didn't matter. I would even like to go and muck out, sweep up, tack up etc just generally get back into it all, but wouldn't feel comfortable just turning up although as a couple of you said this would probably be a good idea, its too embarrassing! Im going to lose a stone and in the meantime just have a ring round and chat to people. Im also going to chat to my horsey pals and see if anyone has any idea where I could go. Again thank you for replying I really appreciate it xxxx

Dear @MrsHill11 - well I think thats an awful solution!! From the picture you posted theres nothing wrong with your weight! You're 6'2" for goodness sake! I'm struggling to believe that if you looked on a height/weight chart that you'd be out of the norm. I think you're turning the issue round the wrong way - for example: as I said before my OH is 6'4" and heavy, if he wants to ride at an RS he has to go and look for one that has a horse available to him. He's never come away and thought "I'll go and lose weight"
I really truly hope you change your mind as society sometimes gets right up my nose in making good people feel like misfits!
(Rant over!)

orbvalley - I know! But also as a woman and a reasonably new mum I already feel pretty crap about my weight so someone embarrassing me about horse riding would make me feel worse! Daft I know but its the honest truth. I will look for a school that have bigger horses and your right im not sure how much I should weigh at this height and for a woman as there isnt really a chart with my height on! lol xxxx
heres me riding the last boy, we fit so well together!

The main question is whether you gained weight having your baby?
I know that a lot of us do. But the medics dont like it - I had my first child in London NHS and we were obliged to keep our weight down so I weighed abut the same after the birth as when I got pregnant..
My next child I had in Europe and the specialists there were shocked that we had "dieted" while pregnant.

So I had put on weight - not much, but enough to be demoralised and I can understand your wanting to lose it as I did the same. Tho not while breast feeding. So tho I would n't lose weigh to please a RS, if your gp and health professionals think it is OK, then Yes, you could lose any weight put on in pregnancy.
And in case anyone else is reading this with a severe weight problem after a baby - you can lose weight while breast feeding - one of my daughters went on a weight watchers program specially designed for that..

Skib - I put 4 stone on, 3 was water retention and the last stone was actual baby weight, I lost this and more within the first 12 months.
I bottle fed and walked every day with my little one in the pushchair. cxxxxx
