I am planning to buy my daughter and I a new Tweed jacket each before our season starts and I need opinions.

My daughter is 13 and rides a grey, we thought light blue or grey?

My horse is bay so we thought green or brown?

What do you guys think?

Pics to help with colour scheme .... any excuse ;)

hi dont go for a blu tweed depends what class you are thinking of doing, you can never go wrong with a green tweed but not to green if you get me, with piping velert blue on pockets and on coller reli reli nice ones in shires not to expensive on a budget, or ebay or if u want to splurge look at showing selection i got mine from der both blue and tweed the are fab, but do have a tag but your paying for qulaity, so mab treat your self ;)

Thanks guys I think I will probably go green however daughter doesn't "do" green so I may have to go brown with her ... depending on her mood :D

What is your budget like?

If your daughter is set on a blue/grey tweed, look at the likes of Pretty Ponies, Showing Selection, Ponies on Parade, Showing Time and Mrs Candy.

They do good quality blue tweeds which will look the part, more so than something you can buy in your local tack shop. The reason blue is, well, not particularly liked, is because traditionally blue was poorer quality than green or brown, so you need a really nice one to make up for that.

You could always tell her that blue will make her look washed out (it did with me, especially with a white shirt, black hat and beige jods) and that people might think she's ill - I've been asked if I was ok before! :p

DD - The budget is flexible, I am looking around £150 and around £100 for Susan, she will grow out of it in a yr so dont want to go to overboard till we know how she gets on at a local level first. Thanks for the ideas where to get her from I will look at them.

You might try having a look on Ebay as well - nice tweeds for a bit less than new.

I am currently lusting after the Shires Huntingdon jacket, it comes in a really nice rich greeny-brown tweed with a navy velvet collar and pocket trim. I think with a nice navy hat it will work well for showing (we're planning on WH) and dressage too.

I have a sandy coloured tweed with a burgandy overcheck.
Looks great on a grey! Here is a pic of myself and my friend in our matching ones, I think hers is possibly Mrs Candy and mine Showing Selection?

i got a lovely brand new with tags foxley tweed for no more than £50 i think on ebay.

it took me a few weeks to get though as they are competitive about the tweed on there!!!

The nice shires one showingnutter mentions is the shires huntingdon that gruntfuttock also mentions and........

it's 40% off on surrey equestrian site at the moment, £54!!!!!!!!

I thought it looked a really nice one too and I ordered one last week when I found it for that price.
