Hey I’m new to showing and have a welsh action c registered to the WPCS we have recently started entering local shows for experience, can someone explain to me what unaffiliated and affiliated is, as there’s one show that I looked at that asks who my pony is affiliated to?
What’s the whole process of this? And how would I go about it in the future?
Sorry if this is a dumb question 🤦🏽‍♀️
Thanks in advance

Affiliated means the show is run and judged under a particular associations rule book, so a WPCS affiliated show would be judged according to their rules and is likely only open to Welsh’s, but if it were affiliated to BSHA it would use their rules and be open to various breeds. Some affiliated shows let you compete non-comp which means you can go but won’t get points in their championship.
Unaffiliated generally use a rule book but it’s not officially linked to any specific association.

If they’re asking if you are affiliated, sometimes you have to pay a membership to become affiliated, so you’d need to decide who you plan to compete under (perhaps who holds the most shows in your area) and join.
