We all have different standards with horses, so would you

Want to clean these two water buckets or leave them for the horses to drink from?

What others things can you think of that you have different standards over?

When I spot nettles I want to pick them so the horses can nibble when they wilt.
I only know people who spray weeds, I don't know anyone who actively goes out foraging 😂 in my defence that started when she was on box rest so she didn't just have boring hay.

Over to you.

I’d have to clean them, but then I’d go and buy dark green buckets so it’s not as obvious next time 🤣🤣

In all seriousness, my horses seem to prefer slightly less than clean water, so I try to take their lead on it and leave it for longer. I’m not someone who wants everything super clean and perfectly tidy, so long as it’s orderly I’m happy 😁

Funnily enough they did opt for the green one over the cleaner looking blue.
So maybe they prefer a darker bucket.
I changed to a lighter colour as I thought it would stay a bit cooler, deflect the sun.

I had to clean them

Lol those wouldn't bother me - nothing dead in the bottom of them lol
I have black buckets mainly. So of course debris doesn't look as bad. I do clean them and mr trews changes the water most days or tops up. However there's always a bit of that greeny stuff lurking. After a scrub it comes back. My three will drink from a puddle, so I figure they aren't that fussy about the buckets. 🤭 🐴

I'd have to clean them! I have had my fields sprayed this year, wouldnt have bothered but we have loads of plantain. Not only is it taking over from the grass but it's one of the things that AJ tested as allergic to. Ragwort doesn't bother me, I can pull that, but this dastardly plantain was overwhelming. I would love to forage but I'm not brave enough since reading an Agatha Christie novel where someone got poisoned by accidentally eating death cap mushrooms!

I just googled plantain, I had no idea what it looked like. I think we have a bit of it dotted around. Fancy AJ being allergic to it. Thankfully we don't have rag here but I do keep a look out for it. Yes yes, I'm too scared to forage - I remember a Midsomer Murders episode where someone got poisoned by the wrong mushrooms..............

I'd have to clean them.

Have you ever cleaned out a field water trough? It was part of the annual clean up on one of the yards I was at and oh em gee they got filthy! And when we got the water out, the horses fought each other to eat the residual gooey algae at the bottom!! Kind of makes cleaning buckets regularly a complete waste of time 😂

I only forage what I know.
So nettles, garlic, dandelion, sticky wicket, cowslip.
I don't touch mushrooms although I have had someone pick and eat the button mushrooms that grow in the field, I let nature have those and but them.
I would be interested in doing a foraging day where you actually get shown what to look for, but I might still draw the line at mushrooms.

Those in my book are classed as clean. My field troughs are all looking green currently to the point i cant see the bottom now. Im going to take the brush out soon and clean them all. There's only 7 to do. I must say I do like my portable mini drinker. That stays clean all the time.
