What an awful afternoon - update! Yet another update !!

I do have some baggy that I can't get down at the moment - its a bit hard to explain but it leads to the school (which I don't want her in as it is open at one end and she could get into the garden). Mr T will be putting wood posts in - but he's not been up to it lately - so at the moment its got poly poles in front and wire. She will try any areas of weakness! So I was thinking of covering it to reduce any potential damage.
I looked at the 15mm pipe lagging and I don't know if the barbs could get through that? I see what you mean about them perhaps being tempted to lean on it.

I never thought about them chewing on it. Zi is the very devil for eating wood. He ate our garden fence, for no good reason. He's free range so it isn't like its a stress reliever or anything. Very odd.
 
When we got our land we planted a hedge on the boundary and put post and rail (with electric tape) on the inside. Our field neighbours put stock fencing with a top strand of barbed wire on their side. Their calves spend their life leaning over the barbed wire to eat the baby hedge (much to OH's annoyance) 😂
 
The fact you heard a thud makes me think it was most likely done in the yard. Probably zi chasing fuzz. Fuzz getting cornered, trying to dodge out the way.

They would probably chew on pool noodles too

And they deteriorate pretty quickly

Using as a go thru obstacle

I couldn't continuously leave them out
....found that out the hard way

At the old house..not barbed wire but regular electric wire... but not electrified
We had lots of old hose and ran the wire in that

I'm just glad when we moved here we went w panel fencing and added to it
.its not cheap.
But the wood and wire etc at the old house
My husband would no sooner leave in the tractor trailer and someone
Would break a board

Its easy to add to or reconfigure
As needed
And you can open any spot up
As needed to get in and out w the tractor etc

Poor Fuz only just seen this.
I wonder if she tripped and knocked her head, or had she suddenly got itchy access rubbed it raw?

Oh dear - your poor hedge! I had similar with the last set of neighbours here. They had shetties (which were lovely) but they ate my roses as neighbour put them in her field that adjoins my garden. I offered her some poly poles and a battery to keep them away but she took the hump with me and didn't speak to me again after that! Since they've been gone I now have lovely rose bushes again. Poor shetties were hungry lol

I think the bang was indicative of her being cornered outside the garage (the main gate was shut as Storm was loose on the yard) and in not being able to get away from Zi she flung her head up and the pebble dashing on the garage side did the damage. That's my theory as there was blood spatter there and lots of head fur.

yes I think that too.
The bang was ominous. The squall makes them silly and want to come back in for shelter but with Storm being loose on the yard the gate at the top was closed and they bottle-necked there.
 
Accidents happen with horses. Some go out of their way to injure themselves, but did the most part they are fine aren't they.
You look to have a clean and tidy yard, she just had to find that spot higher up.

I do try and keep things tidy and as far as I can, hazard free for the horses. But she really does seek out trouble ! She's the only equine I've ever had that managed to break into the feed store. She simply squeezed in via the tiny tiny side door. Lol even I have to bend almost double to get in that way!

Just when Fuzzy's head was healing nicely we have a setback. I half expected it. She is a devil for itching and rubbing her head at the best of times. So I wasn't surprised when she started to rub at the stiching. Last night I noticed a tiny tiny bit of dried blood on her face - but hoped against hope that would be the end of it. Nope, this morning she came in oozing. It looked worse than it really was (I hope). Anyway, have cleaned it up with some difficulty (she is not good at keeping her head still and the vet had to heavily sedate her initially). I just cleaned it gently with some of my new clean face cloths (bye bye to those as they are now Fuzzy cloths!) and warm water. Patted dry gently but it was still oozing a bit. Have put some Dermoline over it. I could really do with something to break the itch / scratch cycle.
Any recommendations?
Years ago the only thing that would stop Chloe itching and rubbing when her legs got out of hand was Fuciderm but I don't even know if its still available.
