What size is your dressage girth compared to GP?

HELP! What size dressage girth ???????

Hi,

I am having a saddle with dressage length girth straps, fitted to Seth in just over a week. He is a very big boy and takes a GP girth of 64 approx.
Can anyone tell me what size dressage girth their horse takes, compared with GP?
I realise that this may differ slightly with saddle make, but I just wanted to know what ball park figure to look out for.

I need to get one made before saddle trial as I don't think the fitter will have XXXXXXXXXXXXXL !!!

With my two I think I have a 32" on the treeless saddle with dressage billets and a 54" on the normally rigged treed saddle . Libby's tack will make you a custom length neoprene lined dressage girth for a nominal additional amount. Good luck

OOOh there's a 42inch on Ebay, so their may be a chance that will fit.I will look up libby's as well.

I would guess it would be good enough to try the saddle with anyway, you have a lot of leeway with most dressage saddles

toby's girth for his GP is 46", and his dressage girth is 22"

At 64 inches for his regular girth, if you're on a yard, you could probably borrow just about anyone's regular GP girth to try the dressage saddle, without investing in a specifially dressage girth.

I think it really depends on the saddle. DJ wears a 52 on his Eventing saddle and a 30 (or 32?) on his dressage saddle.

Martini wore a 46" on her GP saddle I think and her dressage girth is 24"

Mine are 54" or 56" normal and take a 30" girth.

Dressage girth straps have loads of holes spread over a good couple of feet so you would probably get away with the longest 'normal' sized dressage girth (i.e a 32")

It sounds like I have a bit of leeway then. I will bid on the 42 inch if it stays cheap, and have one made when I know more exactly.

You have all put my mind at rest!!!

I didn't want to waste fitters time, and had thought of using GP girth for trial but worried that if I caused discomfort with the buckles he wouldn't be able to concentrate on if saddle was comfy!!!
