In title really. I currently use shock absorbing safety stirrups, think their great. However tried my friends endurance stirrups and they are even better, found the gave more support and I could ride longer!! Which ones do you use?? Where best to buy from and who uses them with or without cage??

Plus check these out, thinke their great!!!:cool: Shame they dont fit endurance stirrups!!!!

What stirrups do you use and why?? Do you use metal, rubber treads, or even compensation treads??

Cheers, those are the ones I was thinking of, will have to save up first!! (would love a leather pair but dont think I can stretch that far!!)

I used to have the aluminium ones and they are really heavy and clunky. I think the leather ones are aluminium covered?

The plastic ones are great. I used to have flex rides as well, they are a lot narrower and are too light, you can't get your feet in them, the soft rides are very light but have a little bit of weight in them.

Brilliant thanks. I've never like the look to be honest but after riding in them found them to be amazing. I suffer bad from knee and hip pain and can go numb from knee down on longer rides, sound like this style would help with this. I also found I could ride 2 holes longer without losing my stirrups, gotta be a good thing!!:p

But as I've discovered a complete mine field if you've never come across them before, nice to hear some other ppls experiences aswell as my friends!!:D:D

Soft treads (with cages) are BRILL!!!!!!!!!!! used to have Flexi-Rides - but they are not as good as the Soft Treads IMOP :) They are more generous sized - I'm happy using them with my clumpy size 8 winter boots! You can get them from Performance Equestrian.

I use lightweight composite plastic stirrups, similar to the Thorowgood Tuff stirrups. Very lightweight and quite spacious for riding in big boots.

Soft Treads

Soft Treads from Performance Equestrian means I can ride!! Without too much pain in ankles (getting old). Excellent service too.
