Well as Bubs is in for the next 4 days Sofi has decided that she too is staying in. Neither of them are keen on being stabled (especially Sofi who until today would completely freak out as soon as the door was closed behind her)
Anyway I don't want them becoming bored so want to hang up some vegetables for them. They are both natives (a fat exmoor and a slim shetland x NF who does gain weight easily but is currenlty at a perfect weight) and becuase of the fact they both gain weight easily I don't want them getting lami from any veggies I hang up. (neither are laminitic)
So what would be ok to hang up for them? i know carrots and apples contain a lot of sugar and Loki (who is a lami) isn't allowed them at all.
Sofi has borrowed lokis snak-a -ball thingy but I only have the one which means Loki can't have it during the day if Sofi has it and Bubs has nothing to do.
(vet has said to keep enbcouraging Bubs to eat whilst she is poorly)

Aww bless them! It is unlikely that they will develop Laminitis from vegetables as you would need to feed quite a lot for much effect to happen.
I recommend suedes and turnips - low in sugar - plus carrots and apples.

:-)

I didn't think it would cause lami, I'm just very very paranoid about lami since Loki got it:o:o:o I hate feeding anything with even a tiny amount of sugar in it as I seem to think they are instanlty going ot be off their feet:o

Thanks for the suggestions and the confirmation that i won't kill them if either of them have small amounts. I'm off to the shop in a minute to buy veggies for them

Sorry if it came across in that way - I suppose you can never be too careful!

:-)

don't worry you didn't come across in any way;) I just worry a lot:rolleyes::o Loki got lami in January last year despite being in 24/7 as there was no winter turnout at my previous yard. So lami is something I worry about constantly.
But if you guys think they will be ok (the girls that is Loki isn't even allowed to sniff vegetables or anything sweet:p ) then I wil get some swedes, turnips and a few carrots and apples. Might pick Loki up some celery too (he likes it and it was the one veggie that the vet that came out to him last year said he could have)

Good good! :-) Bannanas are very good for boosting quality of blood and circulation plus they're full of potassium and low in energy - only they'd be difficult to hang! :p

hehehe at Puzzles:p I don't think they would eat bananas either. every horse I've offered one to has pulled a face and spat it out.

Well I've hung up swedes, apples and carrots. The apples and carrots were torn off before I'd hung them up:rolleyes: and Sofi is currently attacking her swede, Bubs is a little unsure of hers:p
