Who needs motorised vehicles to keep their byways open

Hi, were are running a campaign to improve the state of some of our Byways near East Meon in Hampshire. Have a look at http://www.flickr.com/groups/saveourbyways/

We understand that the BHS are, shall we say, ambivalent about the use of motorised vehicles on byways as there is an argument that says that they keep some lanes open (in our case the opposite is true).

So two purposes to this thread. Do you agree with the BHS or do you think they should do more to protect our lanes? And if you agree with the BHS and you need some lanes clearing then let us know
