I am looking to buy an english saddle and keep seeing this wintec. Is it really any good? And does it fit most horses? Would it fit a low withered horse that is not too wide? This horse s generally really easy to fit anyway...

Any other rec. on saddles? preferably under $600 although I do have $1200 to spend on one I rather save the money for other things.;)

I was looking at getting a 2000 as well but have decided to get the Wintec 500 as its abit cheaper,I have a wintec which is atleast ten years old and it is still in great condition and is great to ride in.
They suit horses that have a higher wither like TB's and you can change the gullet as well to help make it fit better, but I use my old Wintec which is a Wintec Pro on Chunky who has a low wither and it fits him well.

I've only seen a 2000 in passing but I've been told the panel and tree design is a bit more sensible for most horses and less curved. The 500's problem is that the tree is very curved when fitted with anything other than a narrow gullet so rocks on the horse and the balance is pants - if the saddle is the right width then front sits too low:rolleyes:

You might be lucky as they are often an OK fit on narrower horses.

And yes, you can show in them - they're lovely looking saddles.

I love that saddle! My good friend had one and it was soooo comfy for her and her horse so I got one too. I love it!

I have one, and have been very happy with it. Fits my horse well, and is very comfy for me  . Good value and easy to take care of. It also looks nice. If you look close, you can tell it's not leather, but I think it would be fine for showing.

Before buying, I was able to try one that a friend had, so we knew it was likely to be a good fit. So I would recommend trying one before you buy just in case. Another friend on the yard was looking for a saddle for her Missouri Fox Trotter; we tried my Wintec on her and it didn't fit at all--tipped forward something awful. She ended up buying a 2d hand Wintec dressage saddle (an older model, not sure which), that fit her horse perfectly.

My girl is a TB, with an uncomplicated back; the medium-wide gullet is the one we use.
