Your dream job?

There's been a lot of talk about career changes, wanting new jobs and getting new jobs around these parts lately, so I was wondering, if you could do any job in the world, money/entry requirements etc no object, what would it be? Would it be a horsey job or would you keep that as a hobby? Or do you not have a dream job and your dream would be having no job at all? Are you already doing your dream job?

I don't think I could cope with not having a job, I think if I didn't and I was super rich I'd still have to volunteer or something, maybe at an animal rehoming centre. I've always wanted to work with animals, when I was a kid my dream job was to be a trainer at Sea World! Now I'd probably be too worried about how the whales and dolphins are cared for!

If I was rich I would have a trekking centre out in the middle of nowhere with fantastic hacking and an indoor school :)
 
Probably wouldnt be horsey for me as I wouldnt want to detract any pleasure from having Tyler and Hamish.

I hope one day to be my own boss, running my own business, likely to be a wine bar/cafe.

Hmmmm - defo something to do with animals or land/estate management. If I wasn't so worried that I'd end up bringing all the animals home, then being an RSPCA inspector or running a a rescue centre sounds appealing. I saw a really interesting job at The National Trust advertised recently - managing a portfolio of public properties - right up my street.

I always said if i won a substantial amount on the lottery i would open a rescue centre for horses, cats & dogs. Would need a lot of land though but that is my dream. I would also have a livery yard as a seperate business. :)
 
*Sighs* and *Daydreams......*

I'm too indecisive. I'd love to write or I'd love to train as a counselling psychologist and buy a yard to run equine based therapy courses (don't know who my client group would be, possibly difficult teenagers, possibly those with eating disorders, possibly those with depression, low self esteem and definitely a course for those wanting help with their confidence in riding.)
It'd include rehabilitating horses who had suffered neglect and a matching service to find people their perfect horse.
I'd also try and incorporate some sort of healthy eating boot camp courses for overweight involving lots of mucking out and long reining.
Flipo would be the founding horse as he's been the test case - he has already improved my confidence no end and there'd be a huge monument to him in the middle of the grounds (just for total cheesiness, and I'd also probably call the place Flipo's Retreat).

On the other hand as some have suggested, it might be too much to have horses as a job and a past time. Maybe I'll just write, ride and volunteer.
 
Easy. Food critic. Out for dinner every night, eat loads of yummy things on expense account, drink wine, go to bed and have long lay in, get up, do horses, ride, come home, tap a few words out on the laptop and send off, have nap, check horses, go out for dinner...... repeat :D yeah I could live with that.
 
i am doing my dream job - teacher. Every day is different, i get to inspire young minds with the amazing science that inspired me in their position. And when you make a difference to only one child - it's a feeling you can't beat. I wouldn't want to do anything else. I wouldn't want a horsey job anymore, i'd rather keep horses for me time. I like doing my reiki and hope to expand into ET or bowen one day but it will just be for a hobby.
 
I've also always said I would keep horses as a hobby rather than a job but if I had a lottery win I would open a Western riding stables because there is a complete gap in the market up here for that and it wouldn't matter if I failed miserably lol but I could keep busy and have horses on my own land :)
 
I would have a super large RDA. I would have 30-40 horses and ponies, and would train to do my instructors and would also specialise in hippotherapy/physio on horseback.

It would cater for adults and kids, and I would want to make it accesible to as many people as possible. If I had sufficient land and money I would also give homes to rescue horses and ponies and bring them on either for riding school use or for a private home if they would enjoy it.
 
I would have an animal farm and horses that children who live in poverty or from low income inner cities could come and learn about animal care and horse riding :D

I do think that animals can change people lives as much as people can change an animals life.:D
 
Oddly, from a really young age, I wanted to be a saddler! :D I then changed my mind a few times, having some very interesting jobs on the way. :)

I love what I do.... ;)

But....If I could choose anything and have my life again....I would want to be a Forensic Scientist or a Medical Examiner - yep....dead bodies and murder scenes. ;) Absolutely fascinates me, just wish I had had a better education and had science teachers who weren't nut-jobs. :rolleyes: I desperately wanted to do well in sciences....but was failed miserably by my education. :(
