Coronavirus

Its a shame its an injection. If it was a capsule that magically knew what it was doing it would be something they could just hand out through the hatch. :)

As usual our government is just full of ideas. I have ideas, but most of mine are shite :)

I do feel like they make grand statements with little thought as to whether or not it's possible to meet them. Yes making the flu jab so widely available is a good idea, but they clearly haven't considered the practicalities of it. It was like the back to school for some year groups too, some schools couldn't cope due to their layout and goodness knows how they'll manage in September, plus all the parents and other children milling about in a small area waiting for kids to be let in each morning or collecting them in the afternoon made the bubbles the school was talking about absolutely meaningless - how did no one foresee that?

Carthorse its so true over here too.
So many things are unrealistic especially with schools.
Adults are blatantly being morons about wearing masks ..congregating... distancing etc.
They know better and just dont care.

They showed a photo facsimile of a distanced bus one kid every other row on opposite ends of the given row and weather
Permitting the windows need to be open.

Do these people even give any thought to what they propose ...and they are high paid school officials child experts.

I don't have kids except horses and goats
And I'm not a rocket scientist either but I can see it wont be 5 seconds moving and
All those kids will all be clumped up.

Are they gonna get off one by one 6 ft apart and stay apart going into school.
NFW...

AND it won't totally be their fault kids will be kids.

They also claim here they don't think kids will transmit the virus as much.
I don't believe that either.

Just used the new facilities at work, staff room and staff toilets have been relocated to a portacabin in the yard as the cafe is reopening and we are not allowed to share our toilets with customers. Old staffroom is far too small to social distance. I'm am trying my absolute hardest to not complain (far worse going on right now) but the new loos are just freestanding portaloos, no running water to be seen. So how do we wash our hands then

By September social distancing for children won't be necessary. The track and trace will trace everyone and everyone contacted will stay in and everything will be rosy.
Education above heath, economy above health. But that's always been the case. It's never been about saving humans.

Take your own sanitizer. Or at least they should be providing that.
I would bring it up, because you are all using a facility then going back onto the shop floor. Or worse dealing with food eek.

Under health and safety law they have to provide hand washing facilities, that was pre Covid days, have the loos not got the little basin in the corner and the foot pump for the water?
You should certainly complain and don’t be fobbed off if that isn’t the case.

The shops here are giving away free disposable face masks in case you forget yours, or didn't know you needed one.

But my issue is the government hasn't made it clear who is exempt and there is no official national card, the doctors are over run with requests now!
I have seen some pretty disgusting comments online about people not wearing being selfish, so we are finger pointing again at those with health conditions!!

Yes but they currently have no water in. Maybe they will be filled but I quite like to wash my hands with hot water. Maybe I'm just spoilt. Portaloos are fine down the yard or when I'm doing a sports event, but they already smell awful and have barely been used. In hot weather they stink. We do have a sink in the old staff room I suppose we could use but to do that you are walking all through the shop. I don't understand why we can just share loos with the customers, we share the shop with them.

And I also believe in Father Christmas and the Tooth Fairy!

Another thing I don't understand is that for a while they've been saying even if kids do get it they pose a low risk because they have mild or no symptoms and so don't spread it, but a few night ago on the news they were saying how vital testing is because many of the cases picked up are people who are not showing symptoms and so are walking around spreading it - which is right, they can't have it both ways!

What bothers me about being offered a mask is, who has touched it first? I watched a short nhs Orkney video informing us of new procedures at the local hospital. There was a table with masks on. Not wrapped just laid out. Someone has handled those. It said even if you arrive wearing your own you'll be asked to remove it wear one of theirs. Now I might be being picky but surely someone touching them or the person before you isn't good at all right now? Why not have them in a dispenser that cannot be tampered with by the previous person? Oh, they did offer hand gel which you're meant to use first. Hmm. Lip service springs to mind. Not everyone will use that properly.

I'm with you on that - if you're already sharing the shop and serving food etc to customers what's the beef on the toilets?! I'd be tempted to buy my own camping portaloo and have it somewhere (not sure where lol) and not share with anyone. Sounds like a bit of a cock up to me, they really should provide hot water for hand washing. Yes the virus germs can be rinsed away with cold but other germs need hot water surely to be cleaned away?

Theyve had flu vaccine shortages at my surgery the last 3 years. Theyve also not been doing it at the surgery. Theyve had special clinics set up at the local village hall. I think it was last year my brother made 3 appointments for the vaccine and they kept cancelling it. They also give a different on to oaps than middle age people.

Yes they do give a vaccine that's age related. When mr t and me went he was almost given the wrong age group one! (crikey he's not that old looking lol)

Plus last year by the time my doctor's surgery got sufficient doses of flu vaccine to cover people who should get it for free the flu season was well underway, if I remember correctly it was sometime in January. Just because the government are saying they'll make more people eligible doesn't necessarily mean the vaccine will be available in a timely fashion.

Ours are normally quite a way behind with the flu vaccine. And I buy one privately which they order in for me. Sometimes I have to wait until flu season is well and truly underway before it arrives! When we lived south of course I could always go to Asda pharmacy or Sainsburys, never had any bother there. I don't mind paying either.

Yes it's such a shame you can't just order one with your regular medication prescriptions. I can jab the horses, why can't they let me have a couple for mr t and myself?! :p

Perhaps they will roll this out, it's not a very big needle. I can do sheep and horse so probably just about manage a person if they were not too wriggly!

That is insane, and as you rightly say is probably putting wearers at higher risk. Not to mention a waste of masks, and how long before they're in short supply?

One of my friends has severe asthma and she struggles to wear one she tried yesterday and made herself quite breathless, but she is more frightened of the backlash if she dares not to. That’s just wrong and very worrying.
