Coffee & Cake Shop Chat

We're giving the boys very narrow strips of the lush grass, from about 10am til 4pm, and Hogan is flipping huge. He goes down overnight, but I haven't ridden since Thursday, not felt great, and he could really do with going out every day really

Thanks @Kite_Rider
She's been on the track a month now, the area to her right is what i have opened up.
She's eating it and then wondering off which is good. I didn't want to leave it until she had nothing on the track as she wouldn't move off it.

Been out chain harrowing the 21/2 acres i took the boys off last week. Hoping spreading the muck around will help grow some grass back on it before we need it for the cows in December.

Had to put in some more wooden fence posts to sub divide the area ive moved the boys to. They have both ballooned in the last couple of days. Couldnt get billys girth done up to start with today, noticed it was tight on friday. Ive noticed the rams have bulked up too. I reckon our wet August put some oomph in the grass. Its not very long but its really fattening. The only problem is if i dont move the fence they cut up the ground and eat it bare. So less likely to recover quickly. Not sure what to do for the best at present.
Are you strip grazing? I think I will shuffle the track up slightly so the top and bottom is the same width- to allow her to graze perpendicular.
I do have a bald spot, I think thats where she's standing to doze or rolls. She's not made a dirt track yet, but we've only had a few days of wet.

I know it’s not great but I totally LOVE today’s effort.
It feels like the flower petals have just exploded across the page and I love the randomness of it.

That is really beautiful! I would absolutely frame that. Try to remember how you achieved that lovely effect. Are those the particoloured old wild roses, or something else? It's the wrong time of year for a rock rose....Or is it a hibiscus? I don't recognise the leaves o_O

Thank you Jane, my daughter said it reminds her of a beautiful silk scarf. The flowers can be what ever you like, they are madey uppy flowers and leaves from my imagination. I have been playing with the effect, so hopefully it will stick in my head now.
I've done a fly agaric in the same style and I love that too. Will post a pic later.

Turned up to the yard this morning to 10 billion sycamore seeds in ales field. Quick rejig of the fencing and he's now in a tiny section but away from the tree. Must have been the high winds yesterday but I didn't notice them up here in the PM. When I got to work they made the official announcement about redundancies etc. Still don't know anything for certain and won't for a few weeks now. I took Brodie for a lovely short hack in the sunshine, had a lovely canter and at the end there was a lovely little older lady walking. She said seeing us two having fun together had made her day, she had watched us canter along and I always grin like an idiot cantering Brodie. So that cheered me up no end. Had a little chat and left her to her walk. Now sitting in the field with Ale in the sunshine. Going to head home shortly and put the guinea pigs out for a bit for a play in the garden as it's nice today. Animals make life so much better don't they!

Yes animals do make it better. (Apart from when they're giving us grief like ours last week - we now officially have 7 cats - one very large now neutered tom called Monster) :D

Day of for the cob but packing to ride out with her otherside buddy tomorrow.
Much have a shift round of the bird feeders. I will introduce new ones before moving the old over.
They don't seem impressed with homemade fat balls though. Whoops.

You managed to catch him, yay! Love the name, hopefully he will stop living up to it once the hormones settle!!

Yeah we finally caught him, not without many moments of stress I might add. I hated trapping him because the first time it went horribly wrong and I was worried he'd never go back in there. And then I worried he might just do a runner when he came home, but he didn't. He's still here - just hoping the testosterone is easing out of his little body.........................
