2022 Hacking and Riding

I have to add the snaps to the breastcollar.

I'm really pleased with that set.
You don't see a lot of sets with a proper blue or green..
LOTS OF TEAL though.

He looks Good in teal as well.

In the big scheme of things they are not super expensive.

I know people that have to have designer clothes...shoes.. expensive restraunts... fancy jewelry.
Give me a pretty bridle set and a
GOOD HAMBURGER and I'm very happy.

I could see Sonny in teal with his colouring.

Ohh and my little 1995 mustang convertible...
Having had the 1967 mustang convertible many years ago that was the love of my life.
I'm soooooo glad everything I saw the ,64 drive past ...roof down I would be saying
OHHHH THAT GUY WENT PAST AGAIN WITH THAT, 64 MUSTANG CONVERTIBLE.

It didn't fall on deaf ears...I really never dreamed I'd ever have another mustang
Convertible.
And that ,95 was for sale one day just up at the end of the road.
My husband comes home says go look at the driveway of the farm at the end of the road.. what do they have plants??? Horse
Equipment ????
JUST GO LOOK

I come back saying I saw corn stalks..

Then he says didn't you see the MUSTANG
CONVERTIBLE with the for sale sign.

Yes but it looked new....

He says IT'S A 1995. IN GREAT CONDITION
AND A GOOD PRICE......
GO LOOK AT THE CAR.

I really love it.

Just had a ride thankfully it wasn't windy to be dusty.

Hmm this headstall is backwards.
The earpiece is on the left not the right.

Not that it matters for me but it might in a bigger show.
Weird the photo showed it correctly
It's tapered so it can't be switched to the other side.

Ugh had a a wardrobe malfunction if my doing
I had a twist in the noseband making the slip chin on the right come out the back not the front.
I didn't have a screwdriver out there to change it..
It didn't make whole lot of difference but I changed it when I got inside.

I will put a set of screwdrivers out there....

Doing

That one shows my little..fo paw..if you enlarge it

The ring the rein is attached to Should be coming out the top between the nose and the Headstall.
He's very light so it didn't really matter...not that I'd have gone off hours trail riding like that.
It was easily corrected once I had a screwdriver.

4th ride this week, and we're out longer too. He's being quite responsive and although we start out slow, he's picking up once we get going. I think I may have had a light bulb moment - his stride is quite big for a little lad, in trot and I've been so used to Ramsey's shorter stride, my rising has been out of sync with Hogan's stride, hence its felt quite uncomfortable. I slowed and actually thought about what I was doing, and was much more comfortable, and he seemed better too. Only taken me 4 years to figure that one out.Screenshot_20220514-111406_Gallery.jpgScreenshot_20220514-111339_Gallery.jpgScreenshot_20220514-111311_Gallery.jpg

First ride today since the ear issues. Sid was good to tack up. I took the browband off his bridle - easy, it fixes with poppers - as he has a rub just under where it would lie.

When he saw we were going out in company he got very keen! We had Big Horse Walk all the way out of the field and Big Horse Trot when we warmed up. Once he was properly warm - about half way round our hour long route - he kept offering trot and switching his tail when I asked him to keep walking. I wasn't a bit surprised when we decided to have a bit of a canter and what I got was a bit of a buck! But it wasn't a tricky one and I sat down hard and took a pull and told him, no, no galloping! and then we had a lovely rocking-horse canter.

I really rode him all the way around today and he was very responsive, dropping his head and lifting his back, moving away from my left leg when he started to fall out through his left shoulder. I was knackered when I got off, though!

Just had a play in the little Cavaletti pen.

Thankfully there have been a lot of low clouds today.
And even a couple tiny bits of rain ...but soooooo little it didn't help how dry it is at all.

The bit of the Cavaletti pen track along the fence that's more worn to dirt.
OMG THE DUST WAS AWFUL .

SO we had a different play
Trot or canter til we got to that area...the an immediate drop to walk...thru that area
Then pick it up again

He did super.
Thankfully it stayed overcast the whole time.

In the breaks of sun it's very nasty. You want to drop in your tracks.

Depending on how it is later...

I have a bridle from a set I have had for a number of years set ready to go with the a slip chin noseband.

Well, Hogan's halo didn't just slip - it flew off to parts unknown for half an hour. First, it was horrible and wet first thing, so I decided to take him out later - one confused cob when I brought him in to get ready. Set off out as normal, no problems at all. Halfway round the demon emerged, for no reason whatsoever. It's not high spirits, it's not pain (at least not that I can tell), it just comes out of nowhere. Worst one for a while. Head throwing, attempted rears, massive bucks. Then jogging all the way home, with the head throwing continuing. Got back to the yard and totally normal. WTH?. Two positives - I stayed on and by god he got his exercise! Little toad.

Confused..... Screenshot_20220516-145800_Gallery.jpgWon't look at me now we're back home....Screenshot_20220516-145728_Gallery.jpgZero remorse..... Screenshot_20220516-143649_Gallery.jpg
