2019 Hacking/Riding Thread

Managed to get out Monday and Wednesday, nothing since - pouring! However, both rides went well. Nearly turned tail and ran on Weds - 4 forest ponies clustered round on the main track, but it's getting silly now they're there all the time. So, on we went and although Hogan stopped for a minute, right in the middle of them, he was brilliant and walked on no problem. AND we went down the steep hill, AND trotted right round the enclosure, AND he went past a BT van on the lane home, with a guy halfway up a telephone pole - best boy! Can't remember if I'd already mentioned, we had a baby adder in the barn . There might be a nest in an empty stable with a woodpile in it, but I don't know how it's surviving in the cool damp weather. Picked him up in the dustpan and put him in the paddock - didn't want the cat to find him and get bitten.

Wow a baby adder!!! Fabulous - but best to be wary!!!
Golly isn't he good with the ponies crowding around then.

LOL to age
They were all clysdales except for 2 percherons.
I can picture you hugging that huge leg :D :D .

Sounds like no one is having a great weather week.
If I had to be sick this may as well have been the week.
It's nothing to do with the flu shot. I needed to set up with a new doctor since mine retired and yea one right in town.
She said its thank god not streph nothing to do with the flu shot just a really nasty
cold and I was at the wrong place at the wrong time as careful as I am:mad:
I have not done any riding with all the rain and wind it would not have happened any way and I only legged up a few of the days.
Hopefully in the next day or so things will clear and ill be able to get back on that
awesome roll of riding and ugh I have not even played with my new pole set up or fun Halloween stuff..
I finally took that out of the car this am:eek:

Sonny is such a GOOD BOY he really knew I needed a good ride last nite.
The weather may turn around today but was still less than nice yesterday.
I had not planned to ride.
We had shopping to do and were near an orchard with goats so we had lunch there.
Its a fun place there are walk over brigdes for the goats to get from paddock to paccock GOAT CAVES made out of big cement pipe and ohhh cool a wood horse .
It was damp and dreary but not actively raining it was great fun. Id love a tree horse out in the yard...
I got some fun xmas elf hats for cones at the Christmas tree shop then a good walkabout in the gigantic grocery store.
It was getting late when we got home I fed but REALLY felt like I wanted to have
a short ride and play with the cones with the Halloween things on them.
I had a late ride IT WAS AWESOME AWESOME AWESOME :D :D :D
I had lots of fun serpentine and circling the spooky cones quiet and low key but he was sooooooooooo responsive and light.
Then we just pootled around a bit and I got a really nice sidepass both ways and stopped there.
OMG I felt so good afterwards.
We are supposed to start to better patch of weather today its just barely getting light out and it looks like its mostly clear YEA.
I am really hoping to get back my riding roll I was on before I got this nasty bug.

Woo hoo I just had a great ride too the sun really felt nice.
We did some ball play and just over some cavaletti and poles etc and the cones.

In the bad winds the ball blew right out of the big tractor tire this week and I did not go chasing it
and now im not going to put it back in the tire.
Im going to just leave it out around . It really cant leavce the property and its nice if it just out there SOMEPLACE to play with.

Today was a revelation. Got to the gate into the forest, and a lady I know very vaguely was also going in on a beautiful grey mare. My heart sank, as I thought oh crap, he's going to have a tantrum when we go out seperate ways. She then said did I want company, as hers was very green and hadn't been out in company before. So I thought oh double crap, he's going to be a right little **** - he was so naughty last time in company. Well, she was happy to walk, and we went round the outside of the inclosure, up the hill of doom, and said our goodbyes back at the gate. What a little gent he was! Not a flicker, good as gold. Grinned like the village idiot the whole way home.

This must be a world record for me lol
I rode again yesterday! Yaye. Big ginger beast so good with me. He put in some impressive spooks for Mr T first though. I don't think he's doing it for any other reason than a genuine one. When winter comes the bankings will die back some, and I think it will help. I think there must be creatures lurking in there that worry him. Poor lad, but he settles right back down once he's done his Scooby Doo bit! :D

Like that! - Scooby doo bit! I'll think of it as that, makes it less scary!

On Saturday Harvey and I went to a polework clinic and I took our weekday groom with us on a pony that she is helping to retrain. The weather was kind and we had a fun trip.

Sunday was supposed to be a fun ride but it rained all night and I really didn't want to risk Harvey on the slippery ground (particularly as he is a bit of a loon on fun rides) so that was postponed. I went with YO to watch her showjumping then after a late return did some polework with Harvey in the fast fading light. It was so dark when I was poo picking foster ponies that I lost the wheelbarrow at one point

My OH is still out of action so photos are a bit thin on the ground

If it works this is a video of the ponies having a stretch before we went home

Lovely video - jealous again!

Ohhh yea to everyone... for all the great rides. ;);):):)

I'm a bit jealous too of that fun pole class.

The bug is dragging on I was a bit on the fence to riding but the decision was made for me.
I went back this am for re check on Bp
It was still up so started on meds.

Since I was on the fence anyway I'm not riding today.

The weather has changed with many more nice riding days.

Lots of vibes for being bug free soon - and of course your meds working too.

Time to take it a bit easy - I'm awfully good at saying that, not so good at doing it! Have a breather, you'll feel better quicker.
