Annoying thing is, I'm going to have to take that route again, to cement the idea, he's got go go past. I swear his thought process is " Well the old bat's going to sit there til I do it, so I may as well - sigh"
Squeezed a quick ride in late afternoon - very late! I now know that Hogan does not like "roaming in the gloaming"! We set off about 3.40, and by the time we got into the forest it was decidedly dusky. He was so spooked by the different light - glaring into the trees, jumping at the slightest noise, and huffing away the whole way round. I didn't dare trot - I think he'd have imploded if I did, so we walked - fast - and he was sweating like mad by the time we got home. Good result of it all, was that he didn't act on his fear - 6 months ago he'd have behaved very differently, so hopefully this means he's got a teeny bit of trust in me now, and I in him.
It definitely is - even the dogs we met were a bit hyper! That's ace that he didn't react - and be scared. You two sound like you're doing really well. It's always a bit spooky at dusk time isn't it?
Oh I envy you, being able to ride with your OH - unfortunately, mine is really allergic to the horses, though when we were first dating, he came out in a RS hack with me - suffered for days after, bless him! Did the trick though!I managed a quick Zi plod this afternoon. We had to hold off for a while as suddenly we got a heavy squall. I sort of knew it would clear, so once he was tacked up I thought we might as well wait it out in his apartment. Anyway, glad we did as both Mr T and me had a nice ride and it was lovely watching the sunset over the sea - a beautiful skyline. Zi was a tad spooky but not to blame in any way, I just think at dusk time that little creatures are probably all making their way to bed and it un-settled him a bit. But he was good on the whole and I'm glad I got on. Poor Mr T has to help me down lol (I have plantar faciitis atm) he groaned at my weight So either he's getting old and unfit or I've had too many Orkney pies and hot chocolate drinks.......................................!

No riding yesterday but lots of play.
He needed to really blow it out yesterday.
He was very good no really silly boy.
I asked for trot and got an extened canter gallop for quite a long time.
But it was pretty and not stupid silly boy.
I just let him go and go and GO.
Then we came back to nice trot and walk.
Today the ground is frozen again but it should soften later.
Another alert came thru yesterday for another very big 40 horse barn.
In Middlesex county MA that has been put on official quarrentine for strangles
by the MA state vet.
Thats not far away either so its OUT THERE .

I had one day's holiday from work left so on Wednesday I joined a small escorted ride (3 of us!) run by our local bridleways association. It was round a marked horse route I have ridden several times before but we rode it the opposite direction to the markers. It looked quite different and actually rode better that way.
On Saturday a friend and I went arena eventing schooling. A local venue had a competition and after it finished they hired out the course for schooling. The SJ were a bit lower than I normally jump, but some of the rustic fences were at the top end of my comfort zone (we jumped them anyway!)
Sunday dawned foggy and stayed that way. It cleared enough for me to "babysit" one of the liveries round the block on the yard veteran but then came down again. Harvey and I had to satisfy ourselves with playing in the school for a while.
Saturday night was obviously party night chez Harvey

A lovely quick ride on Zi today, I watched the darkness coming from the other side of the island but we had a great time and Mr T rode him too - just in the nick of time when he got off, it started spotting with rain. Zi is such a good boy, he deserves some pics, so next time I must have my phone with me! No sign of the kitties, lol I think they were all sleeping brunch off in the byre...................

You're lucky to have caught the weather! I haven't ridden since Saturday - I'm getting twitchy, and so is Hogan.A lovely quick ride on Zi today, I watched the darkness coming from the other side of the island but we had a great time and Mr T rode him too - just in the nick of time when he got off, it started spotting with rain.
