2022 Hacking and Riding

Friday was a solo hack - Harvey is still on a yellow card after bolting with me a few weeks back. He has to have his curb chain tight which he isn't keen on. He was good though and we even had a little canter along the bridleway which we rarely do as it is normally either too hard or too muddy. He also stepped over a fallen tree for me which was a bit awkward.

On Saturday we boxed over to ride with S who is our weekday groom. She hasn't been at that yard very long so I took her on a new ride which I had done once before. As it turned out we both went somewhere new as I got lost and we ended up riding down the busy main road with about 50 cars behind us - oops. The ponies were very good though and the rest of the ride was fun.

One of the other liveries L has a small equestrian clothing business so on Sunday we had a photoshoot for her website. Two of the girls posed for us (I was the photographer) and I ended up with about 400 images. We all had such fun! I will post some images here when I have permission.
In the afternoon I took the yard veteran out for some exercise and then we set up a grid in the school and Harvey and I had a play

Had a lovely hack yesterday, and was very lucky - the rain set in about midday, and I beat it. Hogan is still acting as though he wants to explode, but settles down if I just push him on. My goodness! Managed another outing today - Hogan was in shock. Flipping freeeezing, but dry. What a good lad he was - no silly moments, but so disappointed - there are such a lot of trees down. One track blocked, and cracked my knee on a tree that was leaning across onto another tree. Not Hogans fault - I thought we could make it, but misjudged. I'll try one of my other routes next ride, to see if it's clear - if not, we may have to venture farther afield.Screenshot_20220306-234409_Gallery.jpg

Woo hoo we have melted a lot
And it stayed above feeezing overnite

I'll have to take a walkabout this am and see how the footing is.

It was scary and dangerous yesterday it was very windy.

Both horses were flying around like LUNATICS Into and out of the stall

I got trapped trying to get i and out of their areas.

Even SONNY WAS AWFUL.
Heads tails and feet were flying
FAR TOO CLOSE FOR COMFORT..

Ouch! Lots of vibes for your knee. I have done that a few times with Storm. I once misjudged the school gate when I hadn't had her long. Thought the gap was wide enough - seems not and crack there you go. Another time out hacking with OH. He was behind me and I opened the gate on the bridle path end. Obviously I didn't do it wide enough but she was going through anyway.................. o_O

Friday was weighing day as the rep from Allen and Paige was there with the scales. Harvey weighed in at 633kg which is less then last time by 3kg, but that was in Jun (2019) so I think he has put on a bit. He's still scored 2.5 so he doesn't need to go on a diet ;) In the afternoon we had a solo hack with a canter along the bridleway and a fair bit of trotting as its nearly fun ride season :)

Saturday was another solo hack and then on Sunday L and I had a nice hack up on to the hill in the sunshine

I will actually be able to add something more than an inhand walk with the boys to the thread this week. Ive gone mad and booked a hack. I know its no biggy really. I havent ridden since mid october though so i expect to ache after. Im told we will go for a gallop up the hill. Im ok with that. Well id prefer a steady canter.

Windy again yesterday, but a nice, if slow, ride. So many trees down, but I think only one track blocked. We met the world and his wife, hence the slowness! Also ponies haven't moved on yet - pesky little critters. Lol a complete flip around today WOO HOO

The footing is not as good
I had him very low key and focused to not be silly since he was at liberty again.

Its not fully melted but we did get a good play.
