Didn't know where else to post this - can anyone id this please? Worried / curious / weirded out lol

Mr Trews and me were just hand grazing with Storm in the front field. I happened to wander off noseying about in the thicker weedy section near the ditch that separates us from the farmer's field. I gasped because at first all I could see was some white. Three of our cats have been missing a while (they are semi feral and elusive at times) so my first thought was something awful had happened to Felix (he has a lot of white on him). But nope, upon closer inspection I found these. I hope you can see the pics. They are ugly and horrible. I also though they might be plastic! Or expanding foam?! Anyways, I am guessing some kind of mushroom? Are they poisonous? Should I be worried? They aren't where anyone eats as Storm's mini paddocks are fenced at the other end.
 
Phew! I thought they might be something deadly (was wondering tonight if they might start glowing or something o_O ). So long as they aren't going to eat me..........hahahahaa (used to watch a lot of sci-fi stuff!). 😬

Hahaha, I better not show this to Mr Trews. He so wants to eat things like mushrooms. We have loads growing in the fields but I'm scared of picking the wrong ones. I remember the episode of Midsomer Murders when someone ate the wrong one (it was deliberately planted in their bowl mind). 😬 :eek:
 
They use to grow in my next door neighbours field. Although havent seen them in there for years. I think we had some come up in our field too at a similar time. It was some 30 years ago though.

We went and picked them and fried them up. Whilst i eat mushrooms, i seem to recall i wasnt over keen on them as a child.
 
Wow they are really huge.
Ive seen much smaller round dark colored balls that if you accidentally step on one
It puffs up a cloud of dust.

Seeing those would startle me too.
