Well if nots a poorly Bobs we have a poorly Tracy...Hope you are feeling a lot better this week...x Nice that Bobs bottom is nice and clean again and hoping he's had a good week, the grass is shooting through now isn't it?

Linda, you just seem to be so busy all of the time, not sure how you fit it all in! How is Acorn with the new grass after the rain this week???

LOved your photos Nani - my thats one chunky monkey you have there!!! Did you have a good time at Badminton??? I spent too much as usual!!

Well, guys, my 'Vicky' battle continues (thanks for replying to my other thread Linda!!) We are getting improvements but its going to be a long job. She has so many good points and just this ONE BIG ONE involving her brakes!!! hey ho, had her teeth and back done yesterday so we'll see. Good job I've still got Will as at least Decs can hop on him and canter and jump in the school!!

Anyway ladies, my only big news is that i've got a job!!!! I'm going to work for 'Gatehouse' the people who make the FS1 riding hats that are so very popular at the moment!!! It's part time, allowing me to fit in ponies, kids and mum, and its based only 10 mins from where I live in a beautiful country house, its where Mark Todd is based!!! So looking forward to that!

Congrats on the Job Debbie, well done! Congrats on the Job Debbie, well done! morin all. hope everybody well, how Acorn coping with the new paddock & walk! bobs is ok had runny poo the last two day but thats down to me, had to change haylage couldnt get anymore of the stuff i use to get, this from new place and its sh*t, ive wasted 4 bales now at £6 pound a bale. its just to wet to give him. so i got 1 to try him on from the horse shop at £6.50 called Kelsall hill haylage which he liked so didnt mind paying the price but found out its ryegrass which is bad for lammi.. so got told about HorseHage which i found y-day went and got him one... and guess yep dosent like it. but thats made of of ryegrass as well i dont no much about grass... am guessing its the stage its cut at ? ( is that wright) but in this horsehage it looks like the same stiff as in the Kelsall hill but the kelsallhill smells nice and the horsehage is to me a horrble smell. i do understand why bobs dosent want it.. am .... but apart from that bobs is fine.

Horsehage do a ryegrass one a timothy one & a light one in a blue bag that is partly straw,my laminitic seems fine on that but gets a bit of a pulse with even one net of ryegrass.None of them should smell funny,to me they smell a bit like mince pies .If it is unpleasant smelling return it to wherever you bought it from as could be very bad for pony.

Hi Tracey, this damn computer just written this once and it crashed out so had to start again - oh well.......

Hows Bobs hope hes doing a bit better...... Walked Acorn up to the new field yesterday morning and he was fine , went out for 4 hours and we took him back up to the yard in the trailer, seemed okay so this morning took him up in the trailer and walked him back down 7 hours out, he walked down okay but he was very tired when he got back, he ate his Tea and then went and stood at the back of the stable on his bedding for a rest bless him, no pulses or heat and I weigh taped him and hes 155kg exactly the same as he's been for past month so I am really pleased, I thought with the extra grass he may have put a bit on, obviously the exercise is helping and the Lamiprone looks to be doing its job..... he will stay up in his top paddock tomorrow and if no frost Tuesday morning then may go up to the field again - we'll see, he and Charlie have settled down now and thankfully no more injuries, Charlies swollen face is going down, Arnica and Alpha bute combination for him at the moment seems to be doing the trick, good job not showing him just yet otherwise would have been really p****d off.

They can be damn picky about what they will or won't eat, Acorns the same with Hay, at the moment I have 4 bales left and I have to mix it a bit from 2 bales as if I give a net of each seperate he won't touch it, mixed up he will suspect just bloody mindedness cos its not green!
I don't give him haylage at all so he will just have to get on with it.

We used to feed the Horsehage to Tess when she's stabled, actually worked really well for her, we used the original but didn't have the lami issue with her thank goodness, although we had to restrict her intake as she would get fat on it if we fed it as we would hay.

anyway hopes you get his diet sorted soon, hows weather with you, we had Frost this morning and more forcast, it can b****r off now I really don't want all that again! Its sunny now , best part of day but its been really cold all weekend, lets hope summers not far away I have given up on Spring

More Frost overnight tonight they say, luckily the Frost burnt away before I came to work so little man out in his paddock again today.

Went up to get him last night and he was running around bucking and rearing and generally messing about, took him out for a walk up the lane on the road, he strode out like nothing had ever been wrong, we went further last night and walked back down the road half way again and then he was allowed his verge and hedge graze, he loves that the hawthorne in particular!, strode out again this morning into his paddock and left his happily grazing what bit there is. He will go on an extended walk again tonight and it will prob be a repeat tomorrow if still the same due to the frost expected again tonight, hopefully Thursday he can go up to the field with the others, big on my face last night, its just so good to have him back to himself - cheek an all!

lin that is great news am so pleased the little man is back on his hooves x its great to see when all is ok with them x bobs is ok, didnt like that haylage. in a bag. all he did was throw it around his stable !! anyway hes doing ok, richard here next week and his hoofs are in need off a trim xx

Hey great news on all fronts eh Tracey, so pleased the LP and AB seem to be working, Acorn is on his and all seems well.

Took the little man upto the field this morning, 1/2 mile of road and he walked/trotted all the way (no boots for over a week now) so keen to get up there, out in the field with the other two now and full of it, mutual grooming was the first order of the day and then a play, the other two have eaten it down quite well now so hoping a full day on the grass he is okay, the test will be going back tonight, I will try and keep him on the road and see how tired he is when we get back, eventually I will leave him up there overnight so he is just doing one way each day, but daren't do it just yet want to be sure no issues on the grass etc. once he is fully fit then it shouldn't be a problem, he was starting to get a bit fed up in his top paddock and luckily just a slight touch of frost early this morning and it had all but gone when I let him in the field, a test for the LP, will let you know how he gets on.
Acorns boots are tight now that his feet have grown, so will only use them for a week straight after his trim if necessary, I could take the pads out but not sure if they would be too near the coronet then, little feet
still on 1/2 a bute a day but will start getting him off that as soon as I am happy hes coping.
anyway best get some work done, sun shining and I am stuck inside

Good news on here lately, apart from this awful frost and snow up north!!! It's nearly June!!!

Well, we've been lucky. Temp hasn't dipped below 10degrees and it's been fairly dry. M getting on fine. No naughtiness since he's got friends (except for csrapes and scratches where him & Harv are playing nip-my-face). His leg healed up pretty good.

Been working Harvs but NO weight loss. I give up. I can't ride him, he's too fat and will ruin his joints. Dunno why I'm bothering with someone elses horse Measured him last night and he is off the scale. My tape goes up to 693kgs and he was 2 inches off the last marker. He's a 14.3 pony!!!!

N! Bloody hell big pony, your bothering because you care honey can not say the same about the ponys owner !! how the hell do you get a pony that big! bobs was big last year in jan when he came down with lammi. he was 438kgs and hes only 14"2 half ( half important ) and he looked bad so god help this little pony!
hope all ponys are well, bobs is fine, but his feet do need trim his toe is long. but the hoof that is growning is nice hoof , which is good, travel all the way over to cheshire y-day to look at a house/ stables to rent. fell in love with the 8 stables and the paddocks but the house was to small. it had a sand area as well ideal for bobs. could of cryed , think i did !! wasnt to be anyway ladies will have to go and sort out bobs back in later for updates.

Lucky you wish we could have had 10degrees would have been like heaven.
Good news NO FROST this morning - yeah!!!!! and Sunny and talk of temperatures improving now, think we might get over 10 today

Acorn up in his paddock today, day off travelling up and down the road, hes doing okay but feeling his leg again a bit last night and this morning, hooves are cold and no pulses but he was a bit miserable last night, hence the day paddling around in his little paddock, he was a bit mad when he didn't do down to the road to go up to the field but its for his own good, think I have got to bottom of it, last few days the growth of hoof seems to have spurted a bit, one toe a little longer than the other, its 5 weeks since his trim when he had the abcess and only his fronts done then, his backs have gone 8 weeks, Farrier on Holiday so will ring him Monday morning and see if I can get him to do him Tuesday morning and balance him up and any remedial work he needs, suspect the inbalance is maybe got him a little on his toe on one foot and putting a strain on his leg. He walks fine all on surfaces and started bursting into Trot a bit on the road when he gets near the field, mad on grass bless him. hopefully he will get it rested again today and see how he is tomorrow, if I had known we would be frostless I would have left him up in the field as he was haring around up there happily and the grass in the area they are in is well topped off now, hindsight eh! anway if good tomorrow and no frost forcast over the weekend I will prob put him out tomorrow afternoon and bring him back in Sunday, reduce the walking a bit till his feet are trimmed.

Well Tracey, Toe too long, its a long while since you were able to have too much hoof growth, Richard is due insn't he, Maybe Bobs feels it in his leg like Acorn does, amazing how similar they have been, unfortunately Bobs has had to indure a lot of other issues at the same time. so sorry about the House and stables, I am like you but with me thinks its just a dream, can't see it ever happening.

God Nani, over 700kg thats Obese surely - would say he will need to loose at least a third sounds as if he needs a serious diet change and loads of work if you are to stand a chance - as Tracey says you do it cause you care, sounds as if its a good job you do, what would it be if you weren't doing something, just stood in the field getting fatter!

Hi Tracey, well we have gone backwards again over the weekend, he's had a spurt of hoof growth and its obviously causing issues, spoke with farrier this morning and hes booking him in hopefully either tomorrow morning or wednesday mornings (hes been on his hols). heel down, toe in job methinks, a bit of remedial trim and rasp to get back to proper position, back on the bute and keeping him mobile, got his appetite back but the walking out is off at mo so keeping an eye on his weight, he can paddle round the paddock but its never enough. Hes starting itching again this morning so had to get the fly spray on quick, we will have no tail left he gets going in earnest, the sooner I can get him back upto the field the better.

hi poor little man, bobs is the same need trim richard here 19th could not leave it any longer than that, with the way his hoofs are. itching you got that problem as well ? bobs been rubbing tail throw nite so wash him down this morin and loads of fly gel on. he hates the spray so loads of gel for him.

Damn midges now the warm weathers arrived! can't win can we.......

Will have to get some pour on from the Vets on Saturday for all 3, it usually does the trick, cheap as well. Have the barrier spray for daily top up if they need it but its not usually necessary for Acorn or Charlie once they have had the pour on, Madam needs the spray under her belly as they always go for her privates no matter what!

Toilet Brush Tail top is what we have , will give his tail a wash tonight and plenty of spray on to try and stop it , he won't like that
I have a little fly rug so if all else fails that will have to go on.

morin all. glad all hoofs are well. nice warm and sunny here but that comes with flys... bobs fine put load of sweet itch on is tail and mane last nite it worked. so wash down this morin and loads of fly gel on, which he went out and rolled so now a very dirty dusty pony.. he was fine this morin just glad to be out of his stable, to warm for them now but can not leave him out in paddock. all nite. but hes fine richard here tomorrow so can not wait to see what hes thinks of his hooves. weight taped him today and hes still the same weight which is great . pop back later for updates
