Was chatting to a work friend and she is trying to lose weight, she's on a diet and goes to the gym, but it's not really coming off - so she has enlisted the help of a personal trainer - I asked her how much they charge these days, and she told me £35.00 per hour!! I was gobsmacked and horrified at the thought of paying that........ But having thought about it, I think nothing about paying out for my weekly lessons, which amounts to the same thing.....

I have weekly lessons @ £10 for 45 mins and my RI isn't qualified - however, she has and does compete to advanced medium stressage with her off-the-track ex-racehorse!!! Therefore, I feel she can't be doing much wrong if she's at that level.... plus, she's fun and very enthusiastic!!

What do you pay, do you have regulary lessons and for how long?:)

£10 for 45 minutes:eek: Sorry , please scrape me off the floor and ask your friend if she ever wants to come up this way:p:D

I don't currently have lessons (see confidence crisis;)) but have planned to take some when the kids have gone back to school.

I have been reccommended a few instructors (thanks NR) and the three I have shortlisted all charge around £30 for a hour. due to this being quite a bit really I'll probably only have one lesson every two weeks but try to practise any homework imbetween

I have a free lance instructor that comes to me and she's great, she has helped me loads and my horse and i pay £20 for an hour but a bit more if i want a jumping lesson with my horse as i have to go to where she stables her horses for the jumps but the YO charges me £6 for use of the school lol

My freelance BHSII instructor comes to my yard, we don't have a school so she teaches me in a paddock. I pay £15 for half an hour but she usually stays longer for a chat & to talk through any issues or questions I have. Worth every penny! :)

The way my RI looks at things is that we currently have a credit crunch, and normally the first thing to stop is the lessons, so why put your prices up and lose custom

I pay my RI £15 an hour and £5 to hire the school. I take my own pony there and its at a private yard where my RI keeps her horse thats why i pay to use the school :)

I don't have lessons and haven't for several years. Cheek and I scrape by and probably reflects why we haven't advanced further. However, I will be getting reining lessons when Jazz is broken in a couple of years time. :)

im afraid that i pay 50 euro for a private lesson with a qualified RI who is dressage competitor and is very good, that involves no jumping, and either on your horse or one of hers. and it only lasts 45 mins

my riding instructor is £20 individual per hour if you have a group it is £10 per hour.
i genrally have them every week however in the summer holidays i dont because i did camp and normally do 4 day rally and am out at shows alot more so it gets 2 expensive

 I thought MY private half hour lessons were expensive at £20 but some of you pay £35?!:eek::eek:

Personally I think for a half hour lesson £15 is a suitable price.

Its only £15 for me to hack for an hour at my other school but somewhere else its £28 for the same thing. Too expensive - much cheaper to keep your own horse I think!
