We found out recently that Megan was a lot greener than we'd anticipated; particularly in canter. I asked my RI to teach me to lunge in the hope that I could bond with her, help her to gain confidence and balance and build on my experience through my RI. Today was lesson 1. You'll like this :p My RI showed me how and had Meg walk, trot, canter and halt with quiet voice commands... looked easy enough

Here's my very first effort <a href="http://www.clipshack.com/Clip.aspx?key=99F00D9AA1F9C4D0"><img src="http://www.clipshack.com/ClipLinkThumb.aspx?id=99F00D9AA1F9C4D0" border="0"></a>
As you'll see, Megan met a scarecrow in a space helmet, arms out, stiff gait and uncoordinated movements... she laughed so much she could hardly maintain a trot and snorted up lots of sand from the school floor  I only rode for 10 minutes as the whole lesson was taken up with lunging, we both thoroughly enjoyed it though and I was very excited and felt we'd achieved something because she really 'listened' to me in the short ride afterwards :D :D

We've got years to perfect our partnership, so nice and slow it goes :p

Well after double-checking that my horse hadn't been borrowed to make a lungeing video, I think that was a very passable first attempt! It's very difficult to remember to stand in the correct position, hold the lunge rein right and speak properly AS WELL AS controlling your horse!!! I'm lucky with Chez that she knows the ropes so well that we tend to start fast and concentrate on slowing down!!! Loved Megan's little flick of her head and tail when you were insisting she carry on trotting ..... "I don't WANT to, but if I MUST....."

Well done Imp, onwards and upwards....

(PS what does everyone use for videoing? Is it a digi-camcorder???)

Yeah!!!!

That made me chuckle:D :D :D

It is really not as easy as it looks Imp, is it?

You did a great job, though - much better than my effort!

Gosh trying to put it all together is hilarious but we'll get there honey!

Well done on the riding too. Walk and trot is fine for anyone in these early stages, I think;)

I thought you had gone out on a hack when you were going on about the scarecrow and space helmet!!!
:D :D :D

Domane, I am just using the videoing option on the digital camera (work's digital camera, I might add).

I think if you have a digi cam corder it would be better quality.

Go girl, we wanna see cherry in action!

Ahhh, lungeing, lovely---not! Gives me the heebie jeebies:p
But Imp, you look so calm out there on your own, WELL DONE:) :) :) :) :)

Hey, d'you think we are in the club called LADIES WHO LUNGE?

I don't think I'd pass the initiation ceremony

One of these days I'll embarrass myself further and post vid of me trotting on her... strictly sound off as the slap, slap, slap of my backside hitting the saddle could be enough to put you off your dinner  :p

Oops, sorry LD, didn't mean to steal your thunder     (see, I'd never pass muster  )
