Merry Christmas to you all

I think we might all cancel xmas next year, I am just off to do horses, might try to find some full length body armour
I think full length body armour sounds good right now. I am still shakey thinking how OH could have copped it. It all happened so fast but slowly. It isn't Zi's fault he is just being a cold, bored gelding. He doesn't know that OH can't get out of his way fast and doesn't know not to play. I think the cold weather makes them sharper somehow.
Least Felix got fed. My face is stinging. He has good strong claws! And it was nice to see him after so long. He's in good condition overall so someone else is feeding him at least. He doesn't look thin so not living off birds and mice.

I have wonderful claw marks from trying to worm one of our romanian cats, once who is not keen on being handled

. He heard the hoof and the air around it brush past his ear by a whisker.
I am glad he is OK. But seriously this is how my great aunt was killed by her horse, an accidental hoof to head when she was on the ground and not wearing a hard hat. It is why I always wear a helmet, even working on a yard.
And particularly to be aware of on weddings, birthdays and Christmas whern some of the people may have had a drink. Not saying you had had alcohol today, but it is Christmas and my gt aunt had. She had been to a wedding..

You are right about hat wearing it’s something I normally do around them. But we’d set off for a walk and Zi happened to be in that field, normally he’s okay but today was a combination I think of the cats and being cold. We are about to partake of our first drink, we have our Christmas dinner late always, Turkey has just come out of the oven.

I ate mine an hour ago but too full for christmas pud. Will be going out shortly to walk floss, feed lambs and check on the newborn. Maybe I'll have made room by then.
Mind its chucking it down out there, so the walk might not happen for a while.

I am so sorry MaryP. I had wondered about the grandparents in your family. So sad for you and scarey for all of us.

Thats so sad @Mary Poppins. Sadly i doubt there will be much you can organise over the christmas break so please try to make the most of your break.

Its very difficult to be happy when loved ones pass at christmas. Indeed my uncle passed away 10 years ago just before christmas. His funeral was on the 22nd. This week i had to say goodbye to Abbey who was my nan and uncles dog who we inherited from them. It seemed right to have her put to sleep on the 22nd. The house is very empty without her, but in my heart i could not let her go through the christmas watching her deteriorating. Then yesterday having a baby calf born. Normally i would be over joyed with a christmas calf but it has been over shadowed with loosing Abbs.

Thank you. He had many health conditions and in hindsight should have phoned the hospital last night as his legs swelled up again. However he didn’t want to be admitted over Christmas. It seems that when he got up this morning his body simple couldn’t cope any longer and he died quickly where he fell. Was a quick way to go but very sad for my husbands mum who found him. We have decided to finish our holiday and then drive there on the 28th. There is so much to sort out but my priority is to help my children through. They were close to him and this is their first experience with death. We have spent the day alternating between Christmas and grief. Both laughing and crying over Christmas dinner.

Yes, they have said that nothing will happen until 29th December at the earliest and we will be with my husbands mum by then. Not sure if they have to do a post mortem as cause of death was not immediately obvious.

It is going to mean some pretty big life changes for all of us. Just when I thought that 2021 couldn’t throw any more crap at me, this happens!

I am so sorry, made even worse by the time of year, hugs.

Sounds like Christmas has been eventful for some of you. Mine also didn’t go to plan in a very sad way as my father in law died suddenly this morning. We are on holiday a 6 hour drive away so have been trying to have a nice day with the kids and just keep going but we are all very shocked and sad.
So sorry, condolences and hugs.

So far so good here (please jinxy gods do not jinx us!). Mr Trews is sorting out the meal, he's got a six hour cook-a-thon. First round of goodies just coming out the oven now as I type. Where does the day go though? We both did the horses this morning and still there's much to do. Cats are giving me the run around, not their fault but all had some of our pork joint that he cooked last night - it went down well, then came right back up. So cat sick all over the house. Great (not). They technically live out mostly and in the garage and utility room but Spy took himself off doing a house tour. You can guess the rest. I haven't dared look closely up here but I can't smell anything. Sorry if anyone is eating.
Going for a walk shortly with Zi around the fields. He's good company and doesn't complain or throw up like the cats.
At least you didn't have the Kim Poodle Performance of a few years ago when OH was STUPID enough to leave the gammon joint in a big le creuset tray on the work surface. Kim jumped up, pulled the tray off the counter, onto floor gammon side down, glaze all over the floor, £120 le creuset dish in pieces as it shattered on impact. Picked up the dish, found another, scooped dinner off floor then cleaned floor. Kim was so upset....all that planning and cunning and no reward.
