On an island
:confused::mad:
OH trailed down to his dragon's sorry mothers house today with card and birthday pressie. He worked until after ten last night and no doubt same again today. So I think pretty good of him to make the time etc. Anyhoo after listening to her grumbles for an hour he got up to leave. As he was leaving she said: "oh it is your wedding anniversary on Saturday I am coming to your house with your card and present". To which he replied: "no thanks, I will take it now, we are very busy and you can come another time". WHY WOULD I WANT MY MIL VISITING ME ON OUR WEDDING ANNIVERSARY?! Also think it was childish because he had made the effort to go see her today - an hour each way but its never good enough.
So she's sulking now but has given him our card and present.
Guess what we got????? (Couldn't help but see it poking out the bag).
A tin of tuna. A box of popadoms. o_O
Strange. Rant over.

Oh and there's more!
Apparently she is FURIOUS about me locking MY YARD GATE!
The other weekend when she dropped by uninvited she couldn't open my yard gates so was extremely put out. She can't climb over either. Well, she demanded to know why we locked them! OH told her we needed to keep the horses in, as they free range about the yard. Personally, I think its none of her bloomin business what I lock and what I don't!!!

I am more worried about the tuna in brine and popadoms. So weird but I "think" I know why she's bought them for us. A while back she tried to give me a tin of tuna and I politely declined but its come home to roost: the tuna was destined for us and that's that!
She'll be even crosser at the weekend if she turns up anyways cos I've started locking the front door so she can't just walk inside!

I am sorry to laugh but that is hilarious..

Just delved further into the bag and found a tin of chopped tomatoes. Very useful. Wonder if there is some hidden meaning to all this?!

Yes, she wants her dinner cooked for her on your wedding anniversary...

She really is a piece of work. Lock all the doors and windows and switch your phone off :p

Hehehe, still chortling to myself about her being cross about the padlocks! Hahahaaa. Should have had them on years ago!!!

Worst anniversary present ever! Tuna curry and poppadums - you'd have to be very drunk to think that was a good idea!

Oh good grief, there really is no hope for her, is there...... I think I'd rather have nothing than a tin of tuna, tomatoes and poppadoms..... what on EARTH was she thinking? Although think of the fun you can have when you send a gift at Christmas..... :p

Maybe she want you to make a pasta dish with poppadoms on the side. What did Mr T say?!

Mr T is absolutely sick of her weird gifts. I mean, what's he supposed to say to her?! "Oh thanks so much for the tuna and popadoms, we had the toms as dessert"..... Bonkers!!! He really gets far end with it all. I think it is a form of attention seeking on her part. Almost like she wants to provoke him into saying something.

Is she alright mentally ?

Yes, I think in the traditional sense. My own father has recently been diagnosed with dementia and he is totally different. For example, he forgets where I work and still thinks I have a shop (haven't had one for years). But MIL is different. She can drive, shop, visit her daughter in Canada, all very capably. Just seems to like giving weird gifts and making constant digs about us not visiting her enough, or not being invited here enough. She's been a pain to me for over twenty years - but has got a lot worse this past few. Last Christmas she bought us a bottle of anti-bacterial handwash. OH thinks it was a dig at me, because during the summer I cooked a barbie and gave everyone anti-bac wipes because of the raw food etc - I always use them after handling raw chops for the barbie etc but she was really annoyed as she didn't deem it necessary.
