The new rider mommies thread

Hi everyone. I'm new on here and have a 17month old little boy. I wanted to know if anyone else had suffered from SPD in their pregnancy. I still can't ride the big fella (hubby has now stolen him) and can't wait until I can get back in the saddle. I havn't ridden now for 2 years :(

I did with my third child, had to wear one of those attractive support stocking things! It went as soon as I delivered though.

Most people who had SPD seem to get better after delivery - just my luck eh :( Anyway I have come up with a cunning plan - side saddle :) I'm going to try it out on a local Clydie that is used to being ridden side saddle and see how I go. If I like it I can hire a saddle for the big fella. Keep your fingers crossed for me.

Hello FF :) I didn't realise you were on here too! I don't get all that much time online these days with all the animals and small people (mind you I have hardly any by your standards!)

Have removed the advertising posts as it isn't allowed on here, turned a blind eye for a few weeks so they have had some airing, but have now been deleted :)

Whew the second baby really has put the breaks on my riding!
With my first I still found time to ride but now with the second baby and me having an online business (no advertising! :p) I actually didn't ride for almost a year!!!
I rode Monday and am still slightly sore today.
My little boy rode after I did and he loved it so much! And so did it.
It was kind of weird. The horses are right in our backyard! But somehow everything else came first and so teh weeks went by and turned into months.
Of course all along we've still been taking care of the horses, etc. so they were just big pets...
Not sure what to do with my oldest. Either just the time passing or the time not working is really showing on her now. Maybe I should retire her altogether?
Here's my baby now 5 months old:

Karin, your little one is adorable!! :D How old is your oldest now?

I haven't been back on this thread in awhile. I'm now 23 weeks, and we're having a little girl. I had emergency appendix removal surgery two weeks ago, which was terrifying and nerve-wracking, but went very smoothly. She's just started to kick, and it's so fun! Hubby can't feel them yet, and he's really jealous ;)

So excited for the next 3.5 months to go by so we can meet her, while on the other hand, I'm hoping the day doesn't come too soon... :)

Oh my goodness! I am glad I stopped in now. So many new names I didn't bother reading through the whole thread so I must have missed your announcement!
Congratulations! Life will never be the same.
And new horsey names under your name too! You'll have to fill me in or show me a link to one of your threads explaining all the new additions!!!

Yes, we are quite smitten with our little girl. Can you believe Duncan will already be 3 in May!!! Here he is with (what he thinks is) his horse - my sweet DJ:

Enjoy the first year! In many ways it seems so stressful and sleep deprived that you can't help but wait for the weeks to go by. But then they go by so fast and before you know it you have a 2 year old screaming at the mounting block for you to get off his horse! LOL

I'm another one who is suffereing SPD in pregnancy. Fortunately I can still walk, but it's just slow and especially moving around in bed, if I toss and turn it hurts a fair bit :( Off to the physio next week to be referred for some exercises.

New Rider Gram? :)

OK - so can the prospective first time grandmother of twins (!!) post here too?

I honestly thought my daughter was trying to pull one on me when she called and announced she was having twins, but it's the real thing. In November 2009 there will 2 more potential horse people entering the world.

Closer on the calendar will be the arrival at my house of 2 (!!) retired polo ponies at the end of May. These horses will come from my daughter who requested that Mom take on the care (no problem) and are viewed as bait to get her to come visit steadily.

So I am expecting double double additions to my family.

Therefore I am allowed one of my favorite exclamations and 4 exclamation points:

Egad!!!!
