The new rider mommies thread

Hi

I am fairly new here, usually post on mature riders forum. Have purchased my first horse Ozzy a 14.3 dales 3 weeks ago. I have twins:

Harry Born on 11/03/06 at 17.00 weighing 3lb 13oz
Isabelle Born on 11/03/06 at 17.01 weighing 3lb 2oz
my twins were born at 29 weeks after 10 weeks on bed rest. They are now doing fab you would not even know they were premmies.

I would love to know how all you guys fit having little ones who are not at school yet around your horses. I work evenings 6pm -2am and find the days i work i have no time without the children and have to take them to the yard with me. (we actually live on the yard well farm but i could not leave them alone in the house).

Hope i have not gate crashed a thread.

I haven't got twins but my youngest three are close in age and tend to come up the yard with me.

My third youngest is 3yrs, my second youngest is 2yrs and my youngest is 10 months old.

I don't have any major pieces of advice other then it can be like advance and retreat with horses :-P

ie you go to see hoss in field, child screams because mum's gone........if you go back the second they're quiet and ignore when screaming in theory they'll learn if they are quiet you'll be back quicker :)

Alternatively I have found being on a private yard where they don't annoy anyone when having a tantrum, a playpen and toys help:D

oh and playschool is a godsend:D:D

My eldest two are now 10yrs and 7yrs and they're not much trouble now so it does get better!!

I find it quite scarey now that it's not many years until they start playschool/school. In one way I like the idea of more time on my own to ride on the other it's sad to watch your babies grow up so quick.

My youngest starts playschool and my second youngest starts school a year in september, which is also when my eldest starts secondary school and my third youngest starts primary school this september.

We live on the farm where the horse is kept so it is very private although there are a couple of other liveries they only come at night.

I think i will get more confident having the children around as i get more confident around Ozzy in general.

I fins stools helpful too :) Like little step stools you can get out of wilkinsons or similar. My kids know if I say 'stool' it means find it and sit on it because I'm doing something that could be dangerous eg picking out feet:D

I'm sure you'll be fine as you get into the swing of things:)

Ruskii has had her baby yesterday!!! A lovely little girl called Jessica who was obviously in a hurry to arrive :D Is she officially the newest New Rider???;):D

Congrats to her, I've been waiting for it, and have been watching her signature, waiting for the news :D

Hope mother and baby are well ;)

Oh, congratulations to her!! :D :D

I think she was due the day before me on the list thingy at the beginning of this thread. I'm still waiting...hopefully our little girl will be here soon, too! :D

Thanks for the good wishes and messages peeps :D

Have been home since Friday but feeling like in another time zone most of the time due to being up most nights, (and you youngsters and first time mums - let me warn you hormones have a LOT to answer for the first few days after your little one is here)

I cant stop staring at her and cuddling her :D

Havent seen the horses yet and wont do for a few days but they are in the care of OH so I know they are alive and doing well ;)

:DCongrats Ruskii! She looks lovely!!!

I'll be on here a lot for the next week or two as my kids school has had a case of swine flu and as my son Jay (who's 11 months) has MCADD I can't run the risk of him catching it as it is looking unlikely he would get over it if he did, due to his condition. :( I daren't go anywhere at the moment except to the horses and staying at home as it seems rife everywhere in essex at the moment.

Here's a up to date pic of Jay :)

I suppose it will give us lots of time to perfect his riding on his rocking horse :p

Oops...I forgot to post here! Our little girl, Alayna, was born on July 14 by planned C-section - she was 9lbs, 7oz and she's beautiful (I'm not biased or anything ;) ). She has bruising on her eyes/forehead because (I guess) she was laying on my pelvic bone, but it's supposed to go away within a few weeks.

We were in the hospital until Friday, were discharged and doing well, but I now have pneumonia....which is making things difficult. Luckily, my husband is home with us until August 1, so he's doing most of the work at the moment.

Here she is!

Ruskii - she's beautiful! I am totally with you on the not being able to stop looking at her and cuddling her! :D

Congratulations ! What a weight ! 9lbs ! My little lady has only just recovered her birth weight of 6 and a half pounds !

She's lovely :D

haha - I had gestational diabetes, so that's likely why she was so large. I was told if I hadn't had the scheduled C-section, I would have ended up with an emergency one anyway because there was no way she was coming out of me.
