The old NR - what a difference!!

I always said I have such a lot to be grateful to pinks lady for. If she wasn;t so forthright and ready to disagree then her words wouldn't have been heard by me

It was she who said that despite what my saddler said there was no way my wintec VSD fitted my flat backed mare. She also suggested that her fussiness through her head wasn't just down to me and suggested the bit Joy now has with did fix things.

Been around since 2002 and had some ups and downs, some good and some bad times - shared some of our darkest times when loosing chinook - this board was my back bone during that time and for that i owe it my upmost respect.

I remember somebody from the USA who had a link to their own website and they taught me the "emergency dismount"! I used it early on in one of my riding lessons!!! I will be forever grateful............

A few names I remember were, Baymare (very helpful), Mehitabel (really clued up), I'm sure there were more - some I'd rather not remember........(runs and hides now.......)

Does anybody remember Jordon Ross (sp?) who had his horse Daphne at home (in a converted garage if I remember correctly?!) - he was a bit 'out there' but very nice, and then one day he went out to the field to find she had died?

And he had a funeral for her with a horse drawn carriage & everything?!

I remember this :(, he took the carriage round the hack they never got to go if I remember rightly ? very sad :(:(, I was actually thinking about this the other day,

^^ Yes that's right! He did, I remember now - yes very sad indeed, he made a lot of progress with her as well she sounded like such a sweet horse :(

^^ This thread made me think of Jordan Ross and Daphe too. It was so sad when he said she had suddenly died.

Agreed, some of his posts were a bit 'out there' but I felt so sorry for him when he lost his horse :(

I wonder if he still rides or has bought another horse? Prob not as I expect he'd still be on here?

I think after she passed away he said he doesn't want to "replace" her, then he disappeared off of here & facebook

And have you noticed - we don't get so many trolls these days?! Oh, I remember some of the arguments and sharp words that went on - blimey.........old NR quite scary at times.........

What happened to Sez? I used to love reading her posts, she had a rabbit too and other pets I'm sure. Her horse was called Salsa.
Dear me, I keep remembering all these folk, I need to get out more........

I have a feeling Devonlass was quite friendly with Jordon... either that or I remembered wrong. I wonder if she is in touch with him still?

He had a lot of trouble I remember, he suffered from schizophrenia I believe (and was quite open and honest about it) and also had trouble with his OH at times too.

Poor guy, I enjoyed his posts even if they were a bit random at times!

And as for trolls... we may have less although I wouldn't say none. I have my suspicions but not going to say who (or why!) for fear of being pelted with stones by other members!

ETA: Anybody remember HDL65... or something like that? Another NR member who was often outspoken and brutally honest!

Oooh, go on, tell tell, tell about the trolls! lol, we won't pelt with stones !!!

Don't remember HDL65? I do remember some meanies tho..........

Trewsers - I agree there are less trolls here now unless I'm completely oblivious to them, have to be honest I dont spot them easily.

Roxy's mum - do tell us, I'd like to avoid them if possible. I don't do pelting with stones, I'm rubbish at throwing things.

That would have been Galadriel :)

Agree with those who have said the new NR is like the original NR before it grew exponentially and started getting much more argumentative. Its much nicer to be a mod on here now, much more like it was originally when I first started moderating!

I technically joined in Jan 2003 but was in fact around for well over a year before that but was sharing a username with my o/h (now husband) who was Steve.R on here.

^^ No way you guys, I'm not as stupid as I (or my avatar) may look!

Just some things I've noticed written over time and a couple of things that don't add up - maybe I'm just impatient, they could obviously be a genuine member in which case I would feel bad.

Perhaps it is more their style/approach to things that I find frustrating and exaggerated.
