Just been looking back through some uber old threads and posts from way back when by the older NRs.

What a difference! I didn't really notice just how b!itchy the forum could be back then!!

SO glad we have things as they are now - with genuine people.

Who can you remember that is no longer here?? I recognised a few old names although admittedly I'm quite glad they're not on here anymore! :p
 
I've been a memeber since 2004 but only really a regular-ish poster over the past couple of months so I can't really remember anyone from previous times. I do remember things being a bit "heated" to say the least at times, probably why I didn't post much! :p

ETA: just looked I've actually been here since 2002! :eek:

I've been a member since 2007 but was a regular lurker until only recently. I didn't want to get caught in a heated "debate" so didn't post. Now I'm free to post at will and very happy with NR now, I don't feel I have to be on my best behaviour and I personally feel that I've made some very nice "virtual" friends.

I don't really remember people from previous times but I do remember people now and follow their stories with interest (didn't bother before to be honest). Long may NR continue. :D
 
Ive never known the old NR as joined in 2010, but have been members of dog forums for sometime and a very well know bull breed one was soooo bad for the nasty comments and the dont do as I do do as I say attitude from mods that I just stopped posting, Cant even remember my username or password.

Yes it is often said that NR doesnt have many posts but I think during the summer time that is true but winter time when the horses are tucked up in bed its pretty busy.

The only think I would like to change it to have the option of making pictures and posts private to paying memebers only as it does frustrate me that I pay but others who dont can read my post/pictures
 
I have been a member of NR since 2004 - thats 6 years!! Where does the time go? It was great when I first joined, but went downhill in 2008/2009 when the membership grew too big and people became inconsiderate in their posts.

I do miss following some peoples stories - SkipsandSoda and KC always put up really interesting threads about their adventures. I do occassionally pop over to the other forum to see what they are up to. I hope that doesn't make me sound like a stalker!
 
I joined last year, and I think it must have been at 'peak' of argumentative threads as I remember a few!

As a newbie I kept well out of it (still would now, I hate confrontation! :o)

Much prefer the 'new' NR and it's nice to be able to recognise who's who and what everyone's been up to.

Agree it can be a bit quiet at times, but also think that's just because it's the summer and we're mostly out making the most of our horses in the nice weather! :D
 
I too nip to another forum to catch up with some of the old members of NR but that took me all of 9 mins last time I did it and it always amazes how young that forum is and how many threads get closed. I'll be meeting up with a few people on Friday. :)

This being a smaller quieter forum has advantages but I really feel emabarressed because I should know who people are, what their stories are and their horses....but I don't and that excludes me from the social side, not that I've ever remained on here to be social.
 
I do remember when I first joined NR I used to trawl through pages of locked threads, it was so bitchy sometimes so I used to keep quiet, especially as i'm relatively new to riding.

I used to like Kc's posts and loved Lantern and nimby. Did she leave the forum as haven't seen anything from her since I re-joined?

Also Storm35 used to make me laugh but haven't seen her either :(

It's much nicer here these days though even if it is a little quieter.
 
The "new" NR feels to me more like the "old" NR before the "old" NR. :D The translation, for those playing the home game, is it seems more like it used to be when I joined back in 2001. It is quieter than it was a couple of years ago, but, in my opinion, much more pleasant.
 
I LOVE the new NR, I never used to post much for fear for being shot down in flames, but now I feel I can post, and get friendly helpful responses :D, it was quiet to start with, but I think it is really good now, enough posts to keep us reading, but not so many that you don't have the time to read them,

There's a few people I do miss though, like Showjumper with Dolly.
 
I was on NR during most of 2009, but then switched. However, I now nip between a few :D Must admit it seems very nice on here, but I've not really started to post much (think you could call me a lurker ;)), but, I shall probably get back into the swing of things over the next few weeks.

Absolutely, there are some really nice characters, and yes, "virtual" friends! I spend alot of time on here learning and sharing and that's what it's all about. I feel welcome and hope everyone else here feels the same :):):)

I remember being told I was stupid by 'oldwoman' back in 2007 and left promptly, only to return in 2009.

Think 'Old Woman' thought most people were stupid ;) You shouldn't have taken any notice.

I thought she was probably someone I would like IRL, even tho she scared the pants off me.:D
 
I like it here now, and it is quite similar now to how it was when I joined. About a year after I joined it got really bitchy though. I got the brunt of some of the bitchyness at the time as I fell out with someone who was not all that she seemed.

Glad it is like it is now, got some great virtual friends on here and NR always cheers me up and is somewhere to share how me and the neds are getting on :)

I too sometimes go over to see how some of the old NR's are getting on, but some of the threads are um, interesting so I don't post much there anymore.
 
I think most of the big forums are getting bitchy now, one rabbit forum I am on, has became extremely bitchy lately, to a point were me & a couple of other people are running a forum for anyone who is fed up of the bitchyness, & because all our threads kept getting locked :(, we were just having lighthearted threads in general chat, and they were getting locked because people started bitching about them :rolleyes:
 
There are some people I miss and wonder what happened too but some
I don't miss at all, lol.

There is no doubt NR went thro' a very bitchy period with lots of closed threads and its just so much more pleasant now I think.

Showjumper and Dolly are fine and I occasionally pop over to the 'other
side' but not very often, I tend to keep up with them more on facebook, and Cookster and I have
met up with her.

Some of the people I remember who have now gone for one reason or another
are Pink's Lady, who gave very forthright advice, lol, and the other person
who sticks in my mind, but cannot remember their names for the life of me
is a girl who had a dapple grey Arab I think, who was a twin, (the Horse, not her, lol) I loved reading their updates but she disappeared quite some time ago.

The time I really didn't 'like' NR was with all the problems when people
from here 'loaned' other peoples Horses who were also members and the
Horses came back in a right state:eek:

Its oh so much better now:)
 
I remember Pinks Lady, she did give forthright advice, eventually resulting in her being banned i think?

I remember Jojoba and CurlywurlyRach, i enjoyed following their posts.
