Weatherbeeta Orican turnout Rug

I have one and I bought the neck for it and he loves it.

I have got a weatherbeeta fusion stable that I love and that doesnt rub him as it is silky inside.

I just went and reserved a weatherbeeta landa combo as he wont be getting clipped fully until jan/feb so he wont need the orican til then I hope.

Wonderful rugs and well worth the cash. You get a lot of deals just now!!!!

All of my horses have Weatherbeeta turnouts from arabs, tbx thru to friesians - weatherbeeta fits them all. Would highly recommend them - very good value for money!

We've had Weatherbeeta rugs for the TBx and they were a great rug, but kept rubbing his shoulder, he's not by any means wide at all but they just didnt fit him (anyone want a 2nd weatherbeeta rug ? :D :o )

We kept the rugs though (weird but Spirt takes a 6'3 lighweight rug but a 6'6 heavyweight and both rugs are weatherbeeta) as we knew that my potential new horse would probably take around the same size, well the buckle didnt even meet the strap my cob is that wide !

Hence why I'm looking at Mark Todd rugs, they seem to be more generous :o

Mine both wear Weatherbeeta, not sure what brand, but they cost about 50 pounds on sale at HOY. The 4'6" Orican fits my looooong backed 14hh pony perfectly, I've had it a few years and she's never been rubbed in it. I think 4'6" NZ is 6' British. Tally's also fits him nicely, and it doesn't rub even though it's a bit small (4'9" is way too big though!)

I have an Orican and I love it. (so does my horse:) If they fit your horse then I would say buy one. I dont know anything about the detatch a neck ones. I like fixed neck rugs so there no chance of water leaking.

Ciara 16.2hh TB type has a 6ft 3in orican and its really good:

Ive been trying all afternoon to get an Orican combo rug with neck, 6ft, in blackberry/navy colour and cant find one under £85.
Theres other colours/sizes cheaper but not what im after.
Typical!! I particually wanted that colour for a change as all Amys rugs are blue..
Any ideas where else to try other than suggested sites??

Have you looked in Countrywide? I 'think' it is that rug that is on offer at the minute. They do have a website if you dont have a store near you. Just off to double check it is that rug.

Amba has a half-neck orican rug in navy/light blue and it's fab lasted all winter and should for at least anout 3/4 years.

I've got a couple of weatherbeta rugs, mostly oricans.

For quality and durability I can't fault them. They're very waterproof and not easily damaged.

They however aren't a good fit on all horses.

Two of mine are very deep necked, esp Kalli and the rug is far too tight from withers to chest so the top strap cuts into their necks when they put their head down. They are however great of one of them.

If they fit your horse they are fabulous. If your unlucky and they don't suit, they're a rubbing nightmare. They also come up large - mine are in the size down.

I would be inclinded to see if you could borrow one off someone for a quick trial before you buy.

On the subject of these rugs.. i have just ordered a full neck ( fixed neck ) one for Amy in 6ft- shes only 14.3 but is quite long in the body and this is the size of her other weatherbeta ( though different make).
Do you think it will drown her? as ive just read they are generous fit. All her other rugs are also 6ft.
Also, is it a dissadvantage to have a fixed neck rug? What are your experiences with this sort? or do you normally go for removable?

I really should have asked all this before ordering:confused:

Finally, is it unusual for a 14.3 to need a 6ft rug? I know usually they have smaller size than this

This is Amy in her other weatherbeta 6ft( cant remember what make:confused: )
Not very good pics, but dont think she looks particually long do you?
A friends 14.3 has a 5ft 6 !! bit of a difference:eek:
