I measured Lantern today... ft - hh again lol.

I only mean that I seem to come across you rather often Chev...I wondered if perhaps you were "assigned" to me, particularly? Especially as your post was rather solely aimed at me....just a ponderation...

Maybe you just happen to make more uncalled for remarks than others?! Just a thought...

KateWooten - Forgive me for stooping this low, I tried really hard to keep my mouth shut as you have managed to give me some interesting information on my thread, but if I were to simply take an impression of you just from your replies on this thread I would find you so far up your own arse that I would be shocked you were even capable of typing anymore..get over yourself!

KC...he is a BIG lad! We have a new lad coming on our yard in a couple of weeks, he is 17.3hh worth of shire - massive!

Erm, nope.... and a quick search of my posts show I haven't 'come across' you for a few months....

If you feel our paths are crossing too frequently maybe you should think a little more before hitting submit?

Oh, don't worry Chev- I found out the answer ;)

I am guna try and get a measuring stick, we have a really really old one in the old stables but it doesn't go high enough. I AM NOT BRAGGING THAT IS A FACT.

Lol Jo, that would make Nimby about 13hh no wonder i'm so big on him nowadays!

Thanks for all the nice comments, and not so much thanks for the nasty ones. :) I'm surprised a thread like this could attract the swarm of nastiness it has attracted. I didn't realise the fact i couldn't convert ft - hh was such a big deal in the world but there we go ;) i suppose some peoples priorities are different.

My daughter made a measuring stick from an 8ft roofing baten.
She marked 40"/10h from the bottom as we have shetlands then just marked up in inches, hands from that. Only trouble was the one she wanted to measure her 13'3? wouldn't let her any where near him with it.

Thank the Almighty all mine are measured in inches! PHEW! except the Icelandics and nobody cares how big they are, they are Icelandic, that is sufficient!

....and if the EU want me to start measureing them in CM they can take a running jump at themselves off a short pier!

good grief, some people really need to take a chill pill:rolleyes:

jay was supposed to be 16.2hh but is actually just over 17.1hh, its all wither though lol

My horse is 14.10hh which sounds a lot less scary-high than 16.2!!! :p

great thread.. I will now never forget how many inches are in a hand..

My OH asked me only the other day..and I couldnt remember  however I was in the pub in my defence :D

not being awkward I absolutely PROMISE - but what is all this in cm ???
Brought up on the continent, never got the hang of inches, hands and all that.
I can guestimate a horse's height in hands just from looking at lots of different ones and having been told their height, but who says I was told correctly :p
I have never been able to work out my own height in "UK speak":D let alone convert that into horsey height :p - and I'm meant to be good with numbers (I AM good with numbers. Just never been taught what the equivalents are. Nothing to do with being able or unable to work things out).

Yeah, sure , could google the lot - but I'd probably prefer to ask my knowledgeable "friends" on NR to be sure to get it right.... after all, who knows where the info on Google comes from - might just be another complete numpty posting stuff on the net ;):p:D

LOL!!!!
Now I know how many inches are in a foot......different kind of dunces hat for me I think Kc :)
Honest hun, I'd have asked in your place and I don't think your were being thick at all. Just the thought of trying to convert Lou's height into feet and inches is making my brain scream!

1 inch = 2.54cm, therefore if you own a 13.2hh pony, the pony height in inches is 13 x 4 (+2) = 54, which equates to 137cm!

Whatever the height is, multiply the whole number in hands by 4 and add the 'odd' extra to obtain the height in inches, then multiply by 2.54 et voila! Height in cm!

*laughs out loud* pmsl sorry KC you know i love ya but that did make me laugh! your so blonde at times!:D

Haha yes well to be honest i'm not guna deny it. That did make it really obvious though haha, i was sat here like "now why didn't i think of that before?"

Does not mean i'm glad i got the horrible comments though btw, cus i didn't learn 'nuffin from them :D
