Coffee & Cake Shop Chat

Interesting that you see a fossil, I think it’s one of those bits of art that is like clouds in the sky as in you see what your imagination creates, both my daughters saw something very different and I’ve had to promise it to my eldest daughter as she absolutely loves it.
I see Chinese writing of some sort.

This afternoon I came across a table with books on it. Having a good look it said help yourself, please try to replace with something.
So I gathered up the few books I had and realised since March it filled the backpack. I also added two dvds as I saw one, and started off CD.
Underneath there were children's games and toys that they could play with and swap and bring back.
Took two books. Its a great idea to swap and share.

What did your daughters see? Lucky eldest daughter!

I wish I had a talent! Still trying to find mine ...

Eldest saw a forest, there’s a lady standing in the mist in her peripheral vision but when she tries to ‘look’ she disappears, youngest saw a warrior, like a samurai swirling his sword. They both have rather vivid imaginations!

See ive lost all track of time. I actually missed my routine dental appointment yesterday. My phone went ting, ting yesterday morning i didnt think anything of it. Thought it was another youtube video notification. Went out with the boys. Wasnt till about 10am when i was sat on the carriage driving chunky i looked at my phone. It had come up with dental reminder. So im looking at next weeks calendar for the appointment. I had it in my brain it was next week. Couldnt find it on my phone calendar, so relooked at the notification which was for 8.30 yesterday. Then it dawned on me. When i made the appointment 6 months ago i made it for a morning so i could do the appointment then go straight to work. Normally i book for last appointment of the day, have done for years. But with my busy working schedule thought it would work better to try a morning appointment, as its such a rush to work, then go home to clean up, then to appointment. Now im not looking at my phone daily to check my work schedule i completely mis read the phone. You would have thought with so much spare time on my hands i wouldn't miss an appointment at all.
When i got in at lunchtime i looked on the website, fortunately they have a notice saying due to covid they are closed. Phew what a relief. I was dreading it. As they charge a hefty fee if you mis there appointments. A fee i cant afford. I didnt fancy going to the appointment anyway under the circumstances. Im hoping they are still closed anyway. I didnt try to ring. Just hope no bill turns up in the post. At least i can say well i checked your website and argue if it does.

Wonder when dentists will reopen.

@chunky monkey I think dentist surgeries will be re-opening around July sometime. They are doing video calls and phone calls for emergencies and will open up in an emergency but just for extractions. I think up here the nhs ones are scheduled to re open at the beginning of July. Not sure when mine will as he's private.

I am getting to the stage where I think this is going to effect our head space, or is already?

I met a friend for the first time since the lockdown. I decided to take a flask. I went in this direction on Monday, but in the last 72 hours new signs have gone up by the park to say no bbq or camp fires, the ice cream van has appeared with cones, signs and sanitizer, the bank now has a ruddy big board outside saying wait here-and you need to wait until invited in.
I am getting to the overloaded stage of rules, sign and changes and wondering if we are all actually better off at home! I wonder if some aren't actually breaking the rules per se, they simply can't process anymore. I shouldn't feel anxious but today I was.

Ive felt anxious everytime ive gone to the supermarket. That last trip with the sarcastic comment of didnt you see the sign has really got to me. I tried to look up the rule changes for the shop before i went so that i could feel happier but still i got flustered.

We popped out yesterday to the feed merchants. Mum rang up to check they have the dog food before we went but theyve stopped doing it regularly as the price has gone through the roof. Its special order only now. So it can take 3 weeks to get. So now we have to change the dog to something else along a similar line. So went to see what they offer as instock. They were really pleasant and it didnt feel like we were in an pandemic, we all just kept or distance and had a social conversation.
I think the small the shop the more normal things are. Its just whether you can get all you need in the small ones.

Mums made a leek, onion and cheese pie. In the oven currently cooking for tea.
Ive been experimenting and made beer bread. One loaf in the oven also.
My mum made too much filling for the pie so the other loaf im going to add the left over mixture to the bread and see what we get.
Getting hungry now.

We need standard signs. All the road signs on the road are the same. You don't drive to another town and suddenly they are a different colour or gone completely.
I realise shops need time to sort, but it's going to be every shop, plus outside.
Dare I say if you have a car, use it and avoid the town. The all under one roof is really appealing!

Sorry you are anxious, but in a way, maybe its the stage we are at? As things slowly open up, we are adjusting again? Glad it's not just me that feels overloaded.

Absolutely agree about standardizing the signs. Also the system - our little local chemist, it's one out one in and queue outside. The local One stop, just go in. The signage = Tesco - arrows, one way system, Chemist - no one way system, One stop - footprints and one way system. The feed store, it's one out one in, no-one enforcing it, no signage. ? As for anxiety - we're in limbo at the moment - in lockdown, I knew what I was doing, this at the moment feels neither here nor there, and everyone seems a bit twitchy.

The more shops that open up, its going to be worse because they will have their system, or not.
I have been in one shop that you go in and stand on the marker.
Another stickers on the floor /barriers, notices on the door. The bank stickers on the wall-least you don't get locked in now, places have been told to open windows to let the air circulate.
And each place expects you to know what to do, blimey no wonder horses get confused!

Morning
Another damp day, cooler though, less people maybe.
Unusual tack room clear out, literally everything been cleared out. I will clean and sort, but I don't have much stuff to be fair.

Happy to report I'm feeling in a much better mood today, haven't been online much as have been feeling a little bit down lately. I know we are allowed out once a day now which is lovely, but, I can't help feeling that we are heading for a massive resurgence and it's been playing on my mind.
Anyhow, today I'm back to thinking I can't change anything so I may as well just make the best of it instead of wallowing in self pity.
Bacon butty for brunch later, not had a bacon butty for ages, so will enjoy that.
Hope this weather keeps the tourists away for all of you living in beautiful locations.
