Mrs Mack following me around as I do chores today. They need to get on the stick with the rats again. Haven't had any for ages but today found some poo in there. Been using my peppermint tea to deter them, took ages to go round the spots where they leave deposits. Perhaps they've all been asleep and just woken up!

This sums 2026 up so far lol been getting megga barrows out the cat barn. They are wandering the yard at night so its to be expected. Getting about four of those out of each box. Would make a fortune if I could sell it hahahaa.

Bit parky out there this morning too, bit of snow and frost settled. Not slippery though thankfully. Stormy looking for her morning biscuits.

No riding today, it was raining first thing, then sleeting and finally snowing for hours but it barely settled, then got dark early to top it off!

Gosh that's unexpected isn't it.
We actually had ice in the buckets yesterday.
But it managed to stay dry.
I guess we are still winter for another four weeks?

It was forecasted, normally L&L come over to ride on Sunday but we changed it this week to avoid it.
 
Oh please don't say that. I'm actually fed up of walking the dog and slipping on all the muddy footpaths. We really have had a wet Jan and Feb.
It started snowing here at 11.30pm last night.

This I took yesterday as I walked up our road.
Somewhere just over the back of that there hill the sun was shining. We have been living in the shadow with no sun for 4 months.

Food photo hahaha. Happy pancake day to all. I've got seconds coming up this afternoon. Ate my own bodyweight in them for breakfast. We only have them once a year - they are so delish.

I had to do my SAR fitness test last night, didn’t get home until 2130 so no pancakes for me 😞 maybe I’ll have them tonight, just cos I fancy them now!

I went out for mine as I just knew how much mess I would make 😂

I might wait till the weekend and make some.

Power went off at 7am. Fortunately I'd just boiled the kettle for a cup of tea. Still not back on at 9am when I got back in from doing the animals so my second cup was the remaining luke warm water out the kettle. Couldn't cook my porridge. So ate salad for breakfast instead. No update as to when it will be back on. We do have strong winds and its been trying to snow and bitterly cold.
If its not on when I get home from work will have to get the camping stove and gas bottle out.

Glad you have a camping stove. We have one, they are definitely worth keeping in aren't they. We get a lot of power cuts here.
 
Not long got home. Clearly what ever the power cut was this morning wasn't fixable, as theres now a massive generator been brought in, craned off into the turning area and connected lots of cables over the fence into the substation.
We use to have this regularly years ago. Frequently got the camping stove out and ways had a stash of candles. We get very few power cuts these days.

I have re-chargeable lights for the byre - they have come in handy a lot in the house too for power cuts. I always have them charging up during the day. I also have some small battery lights that I bought at Tesco, you can stick them anywhere and they give off enough light for hours so you can see where you're going. One night not long ago we had a power cut that went on for hours and we ended up having cold cuts for supper but I could have murdered something hot lol (Had originally planned on home made curry). Hope yours gets fixed sooner rather than later.
 
The sun has gone in but it was a nice morning for the first day of March. Signs of life and one of Storm and me - dry yard - not much mud! Yaye. Very gusty today though so not a riding day for me. Had a mooch around the garden and realised that now would be a good time to tidy up the bushes at the back whilst they are bare and I can see what's what.
