In reality very positive because from about 16 April I should get back on the horse. And hopefully OH and I can go on long walks again.
You surely should be optimistic Ale as so many people have bought dogs during lock down, and you are training for a job with increased demand?
But it has been harder shut down when there is an end date in view.
 
My worry is that too much will be relaxed too soon and people will become complacent. The vaccine is protection but it isn't a magic bullet and the virus is mutating all the time so may make the vaccine less effective. Like flu I suspect it's here to stay so annual jabs with, hopefully, protection against the latest strains may have to become normal.

Far too many people think they can get the vaccine throw away the masks... forget
Keeping distance...AND ITS PARTY TIME..

I also worry things will re open to fast.

They really dont know yet how they work for variants either..

Yep too quick in my book. Everybodies like kids will be back at school and life will be normal again.

No doubt numbers will reduce again in the summer, but it will remain to be seen what happens next Autumn.

Im waiting for the government to say people in there 20s, 30s, and 40s dont need the vaccine. Have it if you want but youll have to pay.

I too am worried that things will open up too quickly, Im not sure when I get my second vaccine as no one told me and no one has contacted me to book it. I also have been told that because I am immune compromised it may not work as well for me as it will for other conditions so it still has a huge impact on my life and I think it will continue to do so going forward, at least until a bigger percentage of the population have had at least one dose. It feel like it's never, ever going to end to be honest..... I'll just carry on avoiding people for as long as I can and enjoying walks in the countryside once everyone is back at work, whenever that may be.

Yes, you book both jabs - at the moment they are 11/12 weeks apart.

I am waiting to see if they can prove that the vaccine reduces transmission, the news from Israel suggests that the vaccine is very effective in reducing symptomatic cases - I am hoping that has a significant impact on the R number.

The government has said it hopes to vaccinate the rest of the adult population by the autumn but not children - basically because it hasn't been tested on people under 18 - ( despite what Matt Hancock says about them being less likely to contract serious illnesses) the drug companies are now testing on 15 to 18 year olds so the situation may change.

And many huge power outages 8 k doses had to be rushed into anyone that could get to a facility that had a catastrophic freezer failure.

I guess they did not loose any doses.
They went to all sorts of age groups...
But where does that leave them for the second dose..

I hope the vaccines that don't need these
Insane cold temps work out really well
Especially the Johnson and Johnson one that just needs to be cool and is one dose.

I didn’t get a letter, just a text from my gp to book the first one, everyone I know who’s had the jab in my area has only had the first and not been asked to book the second one yet, also we weren’t done at one of the big vaccination hubs, my Dad who lives in a different county was though and his second one was booked on the day the got the first.
I checked on the NHS website last night and the earliest appointment it would let me book was 14 weeks away so would take me well past the 11 to 12 week suggestion.
 
So there we have it, an end date.

I'm surprised they are keeping retail closed as long as they are.

I also think that I will be told to go back to face to face lectures from the 8th, I study a university degree at a college so probably fall under their rules. Won't feel safe doing that.

Hopefully things are on the up for everyone slowly
 
Someone i work for was called for there jab last week. They are in there 40s. They have had some previous underlying issues so that probably why they were called. It does give one hope that they are working through the younger people and those with underlying issues now though.
 
How utterly ridiculous my mums Dr surgery have sent her a letter telling her shes extremely clinically vulnerable. The letter says she must shield. It only lasts for a month.
Why oh why have they only just got round to sending her a letter. This pandemic has been going on a year. Whilst the list that they gave out back at the beginning of the pandemic didnt quite qualify her as extremely vulnerable. She was on the high risk category.
I cant see that the two medical issues shes had in the last 6 months now qualify her as extreme. Maybe theyve updated what qualifies as extreme. Seems a bit bizarre when we are supposedly coming out of lockdown and the pandemic that they seen a letter out now.
 
They recently added to the shielding list @chunky monkey due to new medical evidence that shows people with various factors (ranging from medical issues to weight to ethnicity) are at greater risk. They didn't know that when shielding was originally introduced for the most vulnerable.

At the same time, they've also extended shielding until March 31st if you are in England. Shielding will continue *after* new restrictions begin to lift - so the timing is important in that regards.

So, anyone already on the shielding list or recently added will receive a letter confirming that. Our post service has been effected so we only recieved ours yesterday or possibly the day before.

It will help her secure services such as priority slots for online shopping and so on, so very useful.

I havent been watching or read much news lately but just read that france are going into lockdown again. It feels a bit too close. Considering alot of things come in via the channel. The way i read it, its a strain from europe. Just hope our vaccination program isnt invalid.

Feeling quite worried now.
 
We are way ahead of France - they are where we were a couple of months ago.

With the level of vaccinations in the UK I am not overly concerned with the situation there - as I understand it they are suffering mainly the UK variant and we are told that the vaccines are effective against that.

I would be more worried if the Brazilian variant hit our shores in quantity!

I just have my fingers crossed that Italy gets a move on with vaccination so I can visit Scully later this year. One difference over there is that they are vaccinating both doses within the three weeks so obviously things are going slower.
