I called the vet to confirm his conversation with my OH when i got home from work.
The vet moaned about her weight, moaned there was too many droppings in her stable and she was obviously being fed too much (I counted 4 when I skipped her out and that was all day), said he wanted her turned out with a muzzle to get her moving and get weight off her.
I turned her out for 2 hours and there is next to no grazing due to the sheep and cows anyway.
I asked him if she should be on a supplement of any sort and he said it was for the owners to decide, I pointed out he was the vet and didnt he advise on such things and he said he only did what the client wanted. I am not happy and will concede to turning her out for small periods but when the owners come back I am having nothing to do with the whole matter as I can see that poor pony being stabled long term before the summer is out.
I got the weight tape on her last night ans although I am not entirely sure of her size approx 13.1hh or thereabouts. I'm 5'6" and feel not too monstrous on her and she is an Exmoor X. Her girth was 161cm/318kg/701lb
I thought that was not too bad.
