Rubber Riding Boots

i have aigle rubber boots and i like them, i've never had leather as i was still growing. in 2005 i went to HOYs and was trying to find some new riding boots as i had grown out of my other ones. i tried leather as i couldn't see myself growing, i have narrow calves and even the £200 leather boots didn't go narrow enough  tried loads of leather boots and none went down to my size so went and bought a MEDIUM aigle and they fit really nice, no breaking in and so cheap! :)

I have a pair but they are never worn because I hate them, too stiff and unyeilding.

I always wear short boots and half chaps. WOuld love a pair of leather long boots though when I start showing, one day, one day :)

loathe them with a passion - horrible, hot, sweaty things with no give... I always rode in long leather boots - there are several makes now that don't break the bank too much, and they last for much longer than rubber ones. Though I used to wear mine round the house while they were new to supple them up a bit, as new leather boots that fit properly can feel a bit like having your legs encased in concrete! But once they supple up they're wonderful :)

i like my rubber boots they do me just fine for riding and working "occassionally" :D. they are also alot easier to clean, unfortunatley i've never had leather boots so i don't know what there like, but i still love me good old rubber boots :D

Ive always rode in rubber boots, and always got on with them, I ride in Harry Hall Stylo starts. Bit loose on me, but yes, thats me!:p

rubber joddie boots i have no issues with, good, but not amazing.
i NEVER use my rubber long boots for riding, i use them as wellies or the like. they just never broke in properly, they were cheap but i juts wont wear them riding

Hate riding in my rubber boots too so I just wear them like wellies - they're tighter round the calf than my real wellies and so stuff doesn't fall in them (poo, straw etc) and they're useful for when showering the horses. I wear leather jodhpur boots and equichaps to ride. I also found that I couldn't use my spurs properly with my rubber boots and that they fell off when riding without stirrups. All the kids here have Aigle rubber boots (because you can't get jods, only breeches in our saddlers) except for my English friend's daughters who have short boots & jods.

Rubber boots are just too heavy!! I know it may seem a good bargain because there cheap, but shop about and get some leather ones! Much nicer more comfy and light!!!:)

My rubber boots dont bother me. I actually find them really comfy. Only thing is I dont really like jumping in them as they do lack the flexibility for that so for that I get out my Jod boots and half chaps. Personally i decided against leather boots as your not meant to wear them for walking through mud and sorting out muck and I'm not disciplined enough to keep changing my footwear!!! :o :p

I have a pair of loveson rubber jodhpur boots and with chaps I'm soo comfy and I can actually feel the horse and where my foot is better than in leather and they dont split with being creased which is always a bonus plus they are cheaper!!!

Always hated them, always will! I can just about get along with my muck boot tynes, but just can't do full rubber riding boots - very stiff, very uncomfortable, and impossible to achieve a decent leg position in. Jod boots and chaps or short muckers and chaps all the way. When it comes to winter though, I can live with my Tynes;)

I got on with them alright, until I discovered short boots and chaps for every day riding, and my leather gaiters for competition. :)
I just hate trying to get rubber boots on and off, feeling your legs sweltering on hot summer days, and the squeaking against my Wintec saddle.

I don't consider rubber boots to be stiff

Mine were really flexible from the day I bought them. Are we talking short or long boots??? I had a pair of stylo long boots when I was younger and they were great too.

same, and same lol. are we talking about long or short? long rubber boots i cant really deal with they just never really suppeled so theyre wellies now :p but the short ones have been supple and they were fairly cheap at £20, then my half chaps were £15, so the pair probabaly cost abit less than leather boots

Don't like them. Never ridden in them, but don't like them. They don't look right. They look like a rubber boot. My mom had a pair of old white rubber boots for gardening and painted them black for a costume. They looked identical to rubber "riding" boots. My RI won't let her students ride in them, let alone show in them. And as we have hot, humid summers, there's many a-tale of riders having to cut them off when their legs swelled....

My old RI was the same. She would allow people just starting out to wear rubber boots but once you got better she expected you to wear either short boots + chaps/gaiters or leather long boots. Her reasoning was that it's almost impossible to get a correct leg/foot position because they don't bed in like leather boots so will work against you rather than for you.

Hate them with a passion. Used to ride in them all the time as a kid, don't know how i managed. I just find i cannot bend and cannot feel my horse through them. Have got a pair of expensive leather boots which until they're worn in feel just as bad :D I ride in short boots and half chaps.
