who said I was a fox hunter? I am niether pro nor anti, but I do believe that the ban is a stupid piece of legislation that serves no real purpose, and I also believe that unless you are informed and can construct a rational argument sarcastic comments and nit picking will endear you to no-one.
And that goes for pros and antis alike!!!!!

LOL!!! ;) none of us lot will ever agree but I bear no ill will personally to anyone on here... although I think this thread is going in ever decreasing circles and will soon disappear up it's own bottom... pop!! :)

I agree!

I am neither pro nor anti, but do strongly believe that way too much time, effort and tax payers money was wasted on debating and pushing all this through.

Some legislation about some of our stupidly intensive farming techniques (millions of chickens spring to mind  ) might have been a better use of resources!

I hope it does soon, but peeps just can't resist......:)

I'd be interested to read about that zizz, can you post a link to this evidence?:)

There are plenty of medical journals you can access yourself through google scholar. I believe adrenaline is also being adminstered regularly as an analgesic after major thoratic and abdominal surgery.

That's as may be but I really don't see how it can be used to justify this particular bloodsport. You could extend that logic to justify all kinds of cruelty.

As to whether the legislation should have been passed, then yes it should, plenty of people feel strongly about the principles involved and we live in a democracy. Was the law good enough? I don't think so, what we have now is a bit of a fudge, a ban should have meant a ban. I notice the end of the world for the rural way of life and economy predicted by the pro lobby has singularly failed to materialise either.

Sarcastic comments like that are what causes pathetic rows on here.

:D

I'm aware of that, but it's in reference to an animal (or human) being chased that interests me.:)

Adrenaline is released when the fight or flight complex takes over, as in being scared or frightened, in times of stress, being chased etc... Therefore it is resonable to assume that the journals about the analgesic properties of adrenaline would also apply to a human (or animal) when being chased, as adrenaline would be released at this time.

I believe it was spamchops in reply to my post who said

Oh, well that makes it all ok then, can I lop off the legs of a few foxhunters then? You won't feel a thing....

very constructive to the disscussion:rolleyes:

As I have stated I am niether Anti nor Pro hunting, I was just arguing against a previous point, not trying to justify hunting in any way

Actually I think the majority of the british public couldn't give a fig! And the majority of the rural population which are directly affected by hunting are in my exeriance pro hunting.

Was the law good enough? I don't think so, what we have now is a bit of a fudge, a ban should have meant a ban.

I agree the law is an ass, it was labours way of trying to ban hunting without infringing human rights by allowing it to carry on because of all the bloody loopholes. However it now means I should be arrested for letting my three dogs chase a deer accross my field because I am 'Hunting' never mind that a small jack russel and two rather podgy labs haven't got a hope in hell of ever catching it!

I notice the end of the world for the rural way of life and economy predicted by the pro lobby has singularly failed to materialise either.
:D
I think this is because most packs are continuing to hunt!

But is there any scientific evidence to actually prove an animal doesn't feel pain when it's bought down and killed by a predator or a pack of hounds?

Never assume anything. It makes an ass out of u and me :D

Lets use some common sense, I think that evidence would be very hard to collect don't you?:p How do you prove a wild animal is in pain, when the pain and stress responses are so similar? How do you simulate hunting a fox and let it be killed by hounds when hunting is banned?
However there is evidence that mammals have the same resposes from the sympathetic nervous system in times of stress, and that the reaction to adrenaline is the same in humans as it is in other mammals.

Rhien unfortunately 99.9% of science is based on assumption. We can only try to prove beyond reasonable doubt, but how do you define fact? THe big bang theory is still a THEORY based upon assumptions.

Your welcome to your opinion, but in my experience of living and working in the rural environment, the majority of farmers and small holders support the hunting ban.

Come and live where I do, I nearly commited social suicide for refusing to buy a countryside alliance badge a few years ago:D
